(57) Abstract
The eld of locating cellular telephones suffers from high multipath city environments which affect acctuacy. This problem can be l
overcome by a two tiered approach including a general location determination using cellular base station located system (10) and subsequent l
nite location using a portable receiver (26) capable of functioning in high multipath environments. Applications include emergency calls l
and criminal investigations. I
