TYPES OF RECREATION AGENCIES

1.GOVERNMENT RECREATION AGENCIES- These are the federal, state ,provincial agencies and local
departments that provides recreation and leisure services as primary function. Also included are other
agencies that offer the recreation programs as a secondary responsibilities such as those concerned with
social services ,education ,special populations and the armed forces.

RECREATION AGENCES- allows to make camping reservation for recreational facilities managed
by the following federal agencies ;Bureau of Land Management (BLM) ,Fish and Wildlife
Services(FWS). Not all FWS refugees are open to the public.
The Land Management Bureau is an agency of the Philippine government under the
Department of Environment and Natural Resources responsible for administering, surveying,
managing, and disposing Alienable and Disposable (A&D) lands and other government lands not
placed under the jurisdiction of other government agencies.

United States Fish and Wildlife Services (USFWS OR FWS) is an agency of the federal
government within the U.S. Department of the interior dedicated to the management of fish,
wildlife, and natural habitats .The mission of the agency is working with others to conserve
,protect and enhance fish, wildlife, plants and their habitats for thee continuing benefit of the
American people.

2.VOLUNTARILY NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION-these non governmental, non profit agency ,both


sectarian and non sectarian which served the public at large with multi service programs that often
include a substantial element of recreational opportunity. The most popular voluntary organization
includes the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, YMCA, YWCA ,and YM-YWHA.

is an organization that has been formed by a group of people in order to pursue a common
not-for-profit goal, that is, to pursue a stated goal without the intention of distributing excess
revenue to members or leaders. A non profit organization is often dedicated to furthering a a
particular social cause or g for a particular point of view.
In economic terms, a non-profit organization uses it surplus income to the organizations
shareholders as profit or dividends. This is known as the non distribution constraint. The
decision to adopt a non-profit legal structure is one that will often have taxation implications,
particularly where the non profit seeks income tax exemption or charitable status.
Examples:

*Aid Progress Pharmacist Agreement (A.P.P.A) is a voluntary non profit association based on
voluntary work and its main activity is the A.P.P.A. Project.
*French Committee for UNICEF The French Committee for UNICEF is a voluntary non profit
association with more than 6500 volunteers.
*The DAP is a voluntary non profit association aiming at the advancement of scientific research
in drug utilization and drug safety.

NON PROFIT ORGANIZATION


is a non profit organization that is independent of governments and international governmental
organizations. They are usually funded by donations but some avoid formal funding altogether
and are run primarily by volunteers.

ENGO-environmental NGO( Greenpeace and World Wildlife Fund)

INGO-international NGO(Oxfam)

QUANGO- quasi-autonomous NGO( International organization for Standardization-(ISO)

Non profit agencies- is a business granted tax-exemp0t status by the Internal revenue Services . Non
profit pay no income tax on the donations they receive nor any money they earn through fundraising
activities.

EXAMPLES:

CHILDFUND INTERNATIONAL- helping some of the worlds most impoverished children in Liberia is a
complex problem ,but Child fund International receives help from an important partner back in the U.S,
TOMS SHOES.

PACT- coca cola might seem like an odd partner for an international development non-profit like pact,
but this pairing has made an enormous differences

.BOOTHSECTARIAN- is a form of bigotry, discrimination or hatred arising from attaching relations of


inferiority and superiority to differences between subdivisions within a group.

GIRL SCOUT
A member of the girl scouts of America or a similar organization of girls that promotes the
character ,outdoor activities, good citizenships , and services to others.

EXAMPLES:

Include he creation of a documentary to encourage environmental stewardships among


teenagers, the establishment of food pantries and recycling programs and other projects that
benefits our local communities.

YMCA( YOUNG MENS CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION)- A WELFARE MOVEMENT THAT BEGAN IN London in
1844 and now has branches all over the world a hostel or recreational facility run by the YMCA.

*YMCA CALGARY- YMCA has essentially used you tube as another free way to further its mission

*YMCA of Greater HOUSTON-A photo management and sharing all network, to post pictures from all
sports of programs, events, classes, camps and more. We all love pictures by posting them on online
,parents and children can relieve their experiences with a few clicks This offers one more benefit of
attending the event-being able to capture and view the memories later.

NON SECTARIAN- NOT INVOLVING or relating to a specific religious sect or political group.

Examples of universities that identify themselves as being non-sectarian include

BOYSCOUTS- an honest ,friendly, and typically naive man, a member of any of various national scouting
programs for boys usually 11 to 17 years of age.
EXAMPLE:

KID SCOUTING (KABATAANG IMINUMULAT DIWA) IS FOR BOYS 3 TO 4 YEARS OLD IN PRE
SCHOOL EXCEPT KINDERGARTEN. They wear a light blue neckerchief.
KAB SCOUTING (KABATAAN ALAY SA BAYAN SA BAYAN) IS FOR BOYS 5 TO 10 YEARS OLD
(KINDERGARTEN THROUGH GRADE 30. They wear a yellow neckerchief.
Boy scouting is for boys 10 to 12 years old (grade 4 through 6). They were a wear a green
neckerchief.
SENIOR SCOUTING IS FOR BOYS 13 TO 17 YErs old (grades 7-10 ). They wear a red neckerchief.
Rovers scouting is for young men 17-24 years old (grades 11-12 and college level). Rovers aged
24 and above are called rovers peers. They wear a navy blue neckerchief.

YOUNG WOMENS CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION (WORLD - YWCA)

A welfare movement with branches in many countries that began in Britain in 1855. A hostel or
recreational facility run by the YMCA.

3.PRIVATE MEMBERSHIP ORGANIZATION
They provide recreational and social activities for their own members. And in some cases assist
community recreation needs .

( golf, tennis, yacht, athletic and country club)

EXAMPLE:

1. GOLF a game played on a large open air course, in which a small hard ball is struck with a club into
a series of small holes in the ground, the object being to use the fewest possible strokes to complete the
course.

2. TENNIS a game in which two or four players strike a ball with rackets over a net stretched across a
court. The usual form (originally called lawn tennis) is played with a felt-covered hollow rubber ball on a
grass, clay, or artificial surface.

3. YACHT - is a recreation boat or ship. The term originates from the Dutch word jacht hunt, and was
originally defined as a light fast sailing vessel used by the Dutch navy to pursue pirates and other
transgressors around and into the shallow waters of the Low Countries.

There are two different classes of yachts:

*MEMBERSHIP ORGANIZATION is a term which refers to any organization that allows people to

Membership Organizations typically have a particular purpose, which involves connecting


people together around a particular profession , industry, activity, interest, mission or
geographical location. This might simply be to encourage or facilitate interaction and
collaborate, but it also often involves promoting and enhancing the purpose itself.
SWIMMING POOLS Many health clubs, fitness centers and private clubs, such as the YMCA, have
pools used mostly for exercise or recreation. Many towns and cities provide public pools. Many hotels
have polls available for their guest to use at their leisure. Education facilities such as universities
typically have pools for physical education classes, recreation activities, leisure or competitive athletics
such as swimming teams. Hot tubs and spas are pools filled with hot water, used for relaxation or
hydrotherapy, and are common in homes, hotels, and health clubs. Special swimming pools are also
used for diving, specialized water sports, physical therapy as well as for the training of lifeguards and
astronauts. Swimming pools may be heated or unheated.

RETIREMENT COMMUNITY is a housing complex designed for older adults who are generally able to
care for themselves; however, assistance from home care agencies is allowed in some communities, and
activities and socialization opportunities are often provided.

*the community must be age-restricted or age-qualified,

*resident must be partially or fully retired.

*and the community offers shared services or amenities.


4. COMMERCIAL RECREATION ENTERPRISES - This are privately own business which operate to make
profit ,Commercial recreation the provision of recreation related products or services by private
enterprise for a fee, with the long term intent of being profitable.

1.SKI CENTERS A ski resort is a resort developed for skiing, snowboarding, and other winter sports. In
Europe, most ski resorts are towns or villages in or adjacent to a ski area a mountainous area with
pistes, ski trials and a ski lift system. SKI means Spend kids Inheritance or Snort Cocaine.

2. BOWLING ALLEYS - Bowling refers to a series of sports or leisure activities in which a player rolls or
throws a bowling ball towards a target. It is one of the major forms of throwing sports. In pin bowling
variations, the target is usually to knock over pins at the end of a lane. Bowling has a long and rich
history, and today it is one of the most popular sports in the world. A british anthropologist , Sir Flinders

be used for a crude form of bowling.

3. NIGHT CLUB A night club is an entertainment venue and bar which serves alcoholic beverages that
usually operates late into the night. A night club is generally distinguished from regular bars, pubs or
taverns by the inclusion of a stages for live music, one or more dance floor areas and a DJ booth, where
a DJ plays recorded music and where coloured lights illuminate the dance area.
4. MOVIE HOUSES A movie theater or movie theatre (also called a cinema) is a building that contains
an auditorium for viewing films (also called movies or cinemas), for entertainment. Most, but not all,
theaters are commercial operations catering to the general public, who attend by purchasing ticket.
Some movie theaters, however, are operates by non-profit organizations or societies which charge
members a relationship fee to view film. The film is projected with a movie projector onto a large
projection screen at the front of the auditorium while the dialogue , sounds and music are played
through a number of wall-mounted speakers.

6.ARMED FORCES OF RECREATION-Although it is obviously a form of government sponsored activity ;


it is unique in its setting and purpose. Each of the major branches of the armed forces operatean
extensive network of recreation facilities and programs.

intertainment , most forms are recognizable and familiar. Storytelling, music, drama,
dance, and different kinds of performance exist in all culture, were supported in royal
courts, developed into sophisticated forms and over time became available to all
citizens.

8.THEARAPUTIC RECREATION SERVICES include any type of program designed to meet the needs of
persons with physical or mental disabilities , Provides therapeutic recreation opportunities for
individuals with disabilities ,while encouraging people to attain their highest level of independent leisure
functioning by increasing leisure skills, increasing independence and increasing their awareness of and
involvement in community recreational activities.
