2) : EFFECT OF WORK MOTIVATION ON JOB IN MOBILE


TELECOMMUNICATION SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS OF
PAKISTAN

I. TYPE OF RESEARCH. This is a quantitative research and the researches had


adopted a case study on employees working in two mobile telecommunication
service organizations of Pakistan (page 213).

II. THE PROBLEM


1. Was the problem clearly defined? Yes, here the problem is to find the effect
of motivation on the job satisfaction (page 214).

2. Were hypotheses, research questions or objectives formulated? Yes. The


hypotheses, research questions and objectives were clearly formulated. The
research question is to determine the impact of work motivation on job
satisfaction in mobile telecommunication service organizations in Pakistan.
The research questions were specifically designed to accomplish the
objectives of the study. The first section collected information such as age,
sex, qualification and professional status. The second section contained the
items and was divided into two parts to measure job satisfaction and work
motivation (page 216 217). The main objective of the study is to identify
the relationship among the work motivation and job satisfaction (page 214).
1 hypothesis was clearly formulated, (page 216) i.e.
H1: Employee Work Motivation has direct positive effect on Job Satisfaction.

3. Was the problem logically deduced from theory? Yes. The problem
logically deduced from theory. Herzberg et al.s (1959) has described a
relationship between two variables as Job Satisfaction is the result of two
kinds of factors, intrinsic and extrinsic factor; intrinsic factors appraised the
job satisfaction and extrinsic factors cause dissatisfaction and reduce the level
of job satisfaction (Page 216).

4. What are the independent variables? The independent variable is work
motivation (Page 216).
5. What is the dependent variable? The dependent variable is job satisfaction
(Page 216).

III. THE LITERATURE REVIEW


1. Is the literature review adequate, up-to-date, critically done and selective?
The research article was published in year 2010. The literature review has
been done on topic related to job satisfaction and work motivation. The
research article referred ranged from year 1959 to 2009, including classical
article for the research (Page 214 - 216).

2. Are the background studies sufficient? Yes, brief but sufficient. In the
introduction, the researchers had explained that copious researchers agreed on
their finding that job satisfaction was dependent on work motivation.

IV. THE DESIGN


1. Was an appropriate research design utilized to meet the stated objectives?
Yes, since the objective of the study was to study the impact of work
motivation on job satisfaction, a survey-based descriptive research design was
used.

2. Was the population studied clearly specified? Yes. The population of the
study is only limited to mobile telecom organizations and their employees in
Islamabad (page 216).

3. Was the sampling method clearly outlined? Yes. The sample for this study
was drawn from two organizations in the telecom sector. The sample was
included 30 employees (page 216).

4. Was the alpha level specified a priori? No. The alpha level (or level of
significance) was not mentioned.

V. THE PROCEDURE
1. Were treatments and/or data collecting method described so that you
could replicate the study? Yes. A modified questionnaire tagged Work
Motivation and Jos Satisfaction Scale (WMJSS) was used for the collection of
data on the study.

2. Were the size and characteristics of the sample adequately described?


There is no the description of the sample in this article.

VI. THE MEASUREMENT


1. Was any evidence of the reliability of instrument given? Yes. The internal
consistencies for all variables were given using Regression Analysis (Page
217).

2. Was any evidence of the validity of the instrumentation given? No. The
evidence of the validity of the instruments was not given.

VII. THE INTERPRETATION


1. Were the conclusions consistent with the obtained results? Yes, the
conclusions were consistent and in-line with the result obtained. There was a
positive relationship between the motivation and job satisfaction.

2. Were the generalizations confined to the population from which the


sample was drawn? As this study is a case study involving on two
organizations, the findings is only confined to the two organizations.

VIII. GENERAL
1. Was this is a significant study? Why? Yes. The research is based on the
human resource management practice that is motivation. In the developing
countries like Pakistan, it is required to work on such areas that can be
developed to increase the productivity of employees and thus of the
organizations as well.
