At the check- in desk

You can not come in the plane without check in. This is the official procedure which the company
register every passanger comes in. You have to look for the ticket office which is suitable to your
company, then you have to queue. Arriving at the check-in desk, you will be asked to show your
ticket and passport.

You can expect polite questions when checking-in, going through customs, and boarding plans at the
airport. Private questions are asked with 'can' and 'may'. Study vocabulary related to travel to help
you prepare you for speaking English in airports. Remember to always be polite in airports
especially when speaking to customs officials and security officers.

They usually give you these questions:

1. Ticket please1
2. May I see your ticket?
3. Do you have an e-ticket?

After that, they will ask the people go with you.

1. Is anybody travelling with you today?

2. Is anybody else travelling with you?
3. Are just you two travelling today?

Did you pack your bags yourself?

Did someone you do not know ask you to take something on the plane with you?

Did you have possesion of your luggage since you packed?

Did you leave your luggage unattended at all the airport?

Are you carrying any weapons or firearms?

Are you carrying any flammable material?

Do you have any perishable food items?

You need to answer yes or no for those questions. Thats why it is important to understand
those questions. For the following questions, they will ask about the luggage.

How many luggages are you checking in?

Do you have a carry on?

Can you place your bag here?

Then they will ask you to choose the seat.

Do you prefer window or aisle?

We do not have any aisle seat remaining. Is a window seat ok with you or would you prefer a
middle seat?

Do you have a seat next to the emergency exit?

Can I have a seat closest to the emergency exit?

If it is available, they will give you the seat closest to the emergency exit. If it is not, you will get
the seat closer to the emergency exit.

Finally they will tell you the number of the gate and the departure.
