Entry requirements

Master Neuropsychology

It is the responsibility of each candidate to show that he/she has acquired the necessary
competencies. Below you find criteria the Admissions Committee uses to determine
whether you have acquired the requested competencies.

1. Psychological theories and clinical neuropsychology


A. You possess academic knowledge and insight regarding psychological theories in various
domains.

Specific:
o You have acquired at least 30 EC in multiple domains such as:
- Psychological assessment/test theory;
- Clinical psychology and/or personality psychology;
- Social psychology;
- Development psychology;
- Cognitive psychology;
- Biological Psychology.

B. You possess academic knowledge regarding Clinical Neuropsychology.

Specific:
o You have acquired at least 5 EC showing that you possess scientific knowledge about the
most important neuropsychological deficits such as aphasia and agnosia and the effects of
clinical various brain disorders like CVA and dementia on cognitive functioning.

2. Neuropsychological assessment
You are able to adequately use neuropsychological diagnostic decision-making models, procedures
and instruments .

Specific:
o You have acquired at least 5 EC showing that you possess academic skills and knowledge
of different steps of the diagnostic process and you have experience in conducting and
interpreting psychological assessments and tests in a neuropsychological setting.

3. Methods and Statistics & Research report


You are able to set up, conduct, statistically analyse and report on a scientific research project
(under supervision), using the correct statistical procedures.

Specific:
o You have acquired at least 18 EC in the following subjects:
- Knowledge about introductory statistics including topics such as: univariate descriptive
statistics, correlation, univariate regression, one-way analysis of variance and a basic
course in the methodology of behavioural and/or social science research
(experimentation, surveys, observational studies);
- knowledge of (one of the) multivariate analysis tools (such as factor analysis,
reliability, multiple regression, analysis of variance, dummy variables);
- hands-on experience with a statistical programme (such as SPSS);
- You have the ability to perform statistical analyses using these tools.

o You have completed a Bachelor thesis or research report of at least 10 EC;

4. Professional skills
You act in a professional manner in relation to yourself, clients and colleagues, and to the duties
and responsibilities assigned to you. You communicate in a clear and effective manner, attuned to

the person with whom you are communicating in a clinical and/or research setting, and you can
adequately report on these communications verbally and in writing.

Specific:
o You have acquired at least 5 EC showing your communications skills. This includes that you
can structure a conversation based on various conversation models used in psychological
interviews. In addition, you can show that you can practice professional communication skills
(for instance you have followed or will follow a practicum in this field which contains group
discussions and role-playing or you have practically applied these professional communication
skills during an internship).
