Statement of Intent
Brief chosen:
Brief 1 Television: You have been given the task of producing the first two of what your agency hopes
will become a series of 30 second television adverts to promote a new unisex deodorant from UK
deodorants, an existing agency client.
How do you intend to use the four areas of the media theoretical framework to communicate meaning
and meet the requirements of your chosen brief? (approx. 350 words)
Media Language
I
will follow the codes and conventions of deodorant adverts to make sure my adverts look professional
and conventional. I am going to use a wide range of shot types and movement. I will also use a variety
of different editing techniques such as fast paced editing to keep the advert upbeat and match on action
for continuity editing. I will include non-digetic soundtrack that is upbeat and perhaps include a
non-digetic voice over (if necessary). Towards the end of the advert there will be a pack shot of the
product with some graphics showing the slogan. The colour scheme will represent the product well and
will link in to the mise en scene of the advert.
Media industries
I will not break any of the ASA codes in my advert. I will make sure my advert doesn't mislead the
audience and is honest and accurate as i will not show the deodorant to do something that it doesnt
do. I will not include any violent or offensive material in my advert and i will make sure my advert is on
at a suitable time if it includes anything that could harm or offend children. I will also make sure that
there are no privacy issues as i will not include any contact details or addresses for anyone or any
organisation.
Media Representation
I
will show the product being used and show my message clearly (long lasting). I will also show the
target audience in a positive light and show clearly how the product appeals to a active and unisex
audience. I will portray the product positively but i wont mislead the audience.
