Saturday morning, as is my wont, | did our weekend shopping at your Main Road, Somerset West branch. Amongst the various items purchased was a piece of watermelon which, on my return home was refrigerated. Imagine my horror when a couple hours later {took the cling fling wrapping off, to find it soft and pulpy. | immediately phoned your newly appointed and most charming manager, Dik Coutzee, and albeit being just before 1.00 pm, he said he would replace same forthwith - at hame, some couple miles away. Shortly after a Mrs Paula Beurmeister, a ‘mentor’ from Claremont, duly delivered a really good watermelon chunk. This is service and | would like you to personally know of this incident. On the subject of service, we would like to congratulate you ~ particularly on the Somerset West Main Road branch, It is always clean, the staff could not be more helpful nor more courteous and, having recently opened the wine section, makes this comfortably smallish store more comprehensive. {f there is a negative, it would be the limited Fisnmonger .... but then your Somerset Mall branch has a good one. | had discussed this with the previous manager and appreciated his reasanings. Also, Somerset West boasts several very good fishmongers! As a visitor to South Africa some twenty pius years ago, was introduced to what | believe was your first Pick 'n Pay - in Clarmont. On subsequent visits it has been most interesting to note and, now that we are residents, enjoy the expansion of your Company — in which we are also shareholders.
