Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.

Prior to the SRT activity, the teacher will go over the major historical events and key figured that were
involved in World War II. The teacher will go through each event that occurred during the period-of-time
between 1941-1945. The students will then answer an open-ended question about why they believed the
United States got involved. After each topic is covered, the teacher will then use the SRT (Plickers) to assess
what the students have learned about the material.
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
Assess prior knowledge Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) To illuminate common
misconceptions Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) Summative assessment of content knowledge Test preparation
Survey/Poll Discussion starter Homework collection Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

During the SRT activity, the students will first be assigned a Plicker card to register their answers for each
question. The teacher will then open the questions. The teacher will first say the question, and then have the
students read back what the question says. The students will then chose an answer and raise their Plicker
card with their answer choice and raise it above their heads. The teacher will then use an iPad, or cell phone
to register student answers. After each student answers, the teacher will go on to the next question, until the
students complete and answer all of the questions. The teacher will then be able to see the results of the SRT
and gauge students learning and needs based on the results.

Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):
Multiple choice Multiple select True/False Yes/No
Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

Yes No
Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)

Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
Yes
No
Why or why not?
By allowing the students to see the correct answers, this will allow students to critically think about each
question and why they did not get the question right. It will also help the teacher to adjust their lesson based
on the students strengths and weaknesses with the content.

Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?

After the SRT activity is completed, the teacher will display the results of each question anonymously. The
teacher will then go over each question and answer any questions that the students have about that
particular question. This will allow the teacher to decide whether or not the body of students or a few
students understand the concepts of the material.
How will the data be used?
Based on the data that is collected with the help of the SRT tool, the teacher can go back and look at
individual student performance and the entire student populations performance. This will help the teacher
cater to the students learning needs, and it will determine whether the teacher will have to take a closer look
into the content with the students.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.

My personal learning goal from this specific activity is to absolutely use SRT tools in my classroom. Many
students dread having to take such a formal test, and this is another way to assess students understanding of
material for any subject. I hope to learn more about different ways I can incorporate this into my classroom
more frequently.
