At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

2. Identify adjectives used in the sentence
3. Use adjectives to describe persons or place

III. Procedure
a. Preparatory Activities
The teacher greets the students and then asks to keep away unnecessary things from their desks.

b. Motivation
The teacher will group the students and then asks to arrange the jumbled letters and post it on
the board.
c. Presentation of the Lesson
The teacher will ask the class on what is their idea about the word they have posted on the board.
d. Lesson Proper

The teacher discusses the adjectives.


Adjectives is a word that describes noun of pronoun.
Adjectives describe nouns by giving some information about an objects size, age, color,
origin, or material.

Examples:
1. Its a big table. (size)
2. Its a round table. (shape)
3. Its an old table. (age)
4. Its a brown table. (color)
5. Its a wooden table. (material)

e. Application

1. The teacher will ask the class to answer Task 1 and 2. How I View Myself and How Others
View Me on Learners Material pp. 82.

f. Generalization

The teacher will ask the students to define adjectives and cite an example.

Directions: Identify the adjectives used in the sentence.

4. Ana dance gracefully.
5. They live in a beautiful house.
6. Lisa is wearing a sleeveless shirt today.

Figurative language is language that uses words or expressions with a meaning that is
different from the literal interpretation.
Literal language means exactly what it says.

Example:

Literal Descriptions Figurative Descriptions


Grass looks green. The grass looks like spiky
Sand feels rough. green hair. (simile)
The flower smells sweet. Sand is solid water.
Grasshoppers make a high- (metaphor)
pitched noise. The flower has the sweetest
smelling petals in the world.
(hyperbole)
Grasshoppers are fiddlers
who play their legs.
(personification)
C. Activity
The teacher will post statements/sentences on the board and let the
students identify whether the statement is literal of figurative.

1. He was very nice. (Literal)


2. He was the apple of my eye. (Figurative)
3. She had a mouth like speedboat. (Figurative)
4. I had a crush on her. (Literal)
5. She was a very good student. (Literal)

D. Analysis
The teacher will ask the students why the statements become literal or
figurative.

E. Abstraction/Generalization
Therefore, what can you say about literal and figurative language?

F. Application
Write a sentence using literal and figurative language.
