2. Objectives:
SWBAT - Follow directions to create a Panda mask.
SWBAT- Glue items by themselves.

3. Materials/Equipment: Book: PANDAS Paper plates, googley eyes, glue,


popsicle stick, Two black circle for eyes, two black circles for ears, crayon.

4. Teaching:
A. Reading the book: Introduce the book and point out the cover photo,
This is a panda bear! Isnt he cute? Ask students questions
throughout the book to reiterate what was just read, Where can you find
Panda Bears? Thats right, ONLY in China! or What do Panda
Bears eat? Thats right, bamboo!
B. Extension activity: Now we are going to make our own Panda Bears! Pass out all
the supplies. See Ms. Alishas Panda Bear? That is what you are going to make. First, glue
on your black eye circles right where the eyes go, right here. Point to location on the paper
plate. Then you will glue your googley eyes on top of those. Wait for students to finish that
task. Ok now, youre going to glue on your ears, right here. Point to the plate to show
students where the ears go. Wait for them to finish that task. Now draw a nose and a mouth on
your panda face. Lastly, we are going to glue on our popsicle stick. Help students that may be
having trouble. When that is done ask students to hold their masks up. Wow look at these
Pandas, we must be in China!

5. Closure: Ask students questions about Panda bears:


Where do Panda Bears live?
What do they eat?
What color are Panda Bears?
