This lesson will come toward the end of a series of lessons on the events leading up to and during the revolutionary war. The lesson will begin with a quick write of what the students remember of the revolutionary war to activate their prior knowledge. Then the teacher will introduce the constitution. Part of the constitution will be read aloud. Afterwards, the students will be divided into groups, each with a copy of the constitution. The groups will read and analyze the constitution. While, they do so they will write any thoughts or commentary they have. Then the class will come together to share and discuss the thoughts and commentary they had while reading. At the beginning of the series of lessons on the revolutionary war the students will be shown TimeLine. The students will be tasked with creating a time line throughout our lessons on the revolutionary war detailing important events. This time line will serve as a visual aid for the students to reference as well as a visual of the students learning for the teacher to assess. The time lines will also help the teacher and students identify any information they may have missed due to absence or any other reason. At the conclusion of this lesson the students will be given 10-15 minutes to work on their timelines. Feedback will be given to the students verbally throughout the process of creating the timelines. A participation grade will be given to the students upon the completion of said time lines.
