Welcoming Home Pennsylvania’s Finest
Welcoming home our nation’s military heroes is one of my favorite parts of the job. Their service and dedication to our country
deserves recognition and appreciation.
In addition to welcoming
home various veterans, I was also
honored to have had the oppor-
tunity to meet Bob Zultowski, a
World War II veteran who served
in the United States Navy aboard
the U.S.S. Lake Champlain. Un-
fortunately, Mr. Zultowski never
received the medals he had earned
during his service, including the
American Campaign Medal and
a World War II Victory Medal.

Autism Community Can Gain Valuable Resources

An autism-friendly website has been established in order for family members and those living with autism
to live with less stress. This Web site - www.autismresources.com - allows users to recommend and/or search
several autism resources throughout Pennsylvania.
The site was first established because Pennsylvania’s 2004 Autism Task Force recommended there be more
access to information about autism. Keystone Autism Information Systems Inc. (KAIS) is the non-profit
organization that was created specifically to extend public awareness of autism resources.
Knowing which medical providers specialize in autism is important in finding the right care specific
to a family member’s needs. Anyone affected by autism can also find local support groups, which not
only provide support, but education as well. Local restaurants that meet specific dietary needs can
also be found using the site. In addition, there are many other resources available, including sensory-
friendly clothing stores, psychiatrists, schools, speech therapists, parks and pet stores.
These resources can also be accessed by calling the toll free number: 1-877-695-8495. This site
depends on users’ feedback. I strongly urge those in the autism community to share their input
and expertise.

Spring Shredder Event

Recycles 6,670 Pounds
of Paper
I want to thank all those who participated in my
free April 24 shredder event. More than 125 people
in the district helped us to recycle 6,670 pounds of
paper in a single day!
Shredding documents containing personal infor-
mation, such as a person’s birth date, Social Security
number, bank account information, or credit card
number, helps protect against the growing crime of
identity theft.
Stay tuned for future district shredder events.
Volunteer Fire, Ambulance Services
Eligible for Grant Funding
Volunteer fire and ambulance services throughout Delaware County are once again eligible to
apply for funding through the Volunteer Fire Company and Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant
Program.
First established in 2000, the program provides grants to support construction or
renovation of a unit’s station, the purchase or repair of equipment, training or debt re-
duction.
Maximum grants are $15,000 for volunteer fire companies and $10,000 for volun-
teer ambulance services.
Applications will become available no later than Sept. 7 and must be submitted by
4 p.m. on Oct. 22. The grant program is administered by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner. Visit my
website for a link to the application.

DEP Increases Incentives for

Non-Electric Home Heating Equipment
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is offering increased incentives to Penn-
sylvanians to upgrade their non-electric residential heating systems through the Pennsylvania Home Heating
Equipment Rebate Program.
Rebates ranging from $250 to $1,000 will now be offered to replace eligible non-electric residential fur-
naces, hot water heaters and boilers fueled by home heating oil, natural gas or propane with more efficient
Energy Star-rated units. Previously, rebates had ranged from $100 to $500.
Equipment purchased on or after Aug. 2 will be eligible for the revised amount.
Residents may reserve a rebate online at my website at RepMiccarelli.net. Those without Internet access can
call 877-592-2061.
Once a reservation is made, consumers will have 30 days to submit the necessary documentation of purchase
and installation. Rebate checks will then be mailed directly to the consumer. Rebates will be issued until pro-
gram funds are depleted. A rebate can be combined with federal tax credits, a non-electric utility rebate and/or
a manufacturer’s rebate.
