Reflection Essay

During my time learning, writing, and reading in Professor Beadles class, I have

improved tremendously on my essay writing. Learning about monsters with relationship to our

real world issues has really broadened my perception and view of monsters and that they are not

merely just created to impose fear. Learning about rhetoric in the book, Understanding Rhetoric,

has shaped me in learning how to use many tools in my writing such as writing towards different

audiences and revealing the performer within the text. Through all of the classes I have had with

Professor Beadle, I have gained better knowledge through forming my thesis statement, utilizing

and incorporating evidence, and providing a counter-argument and refutation.

Through experiencing the learning process of Professor Beadles class and his teachings,

my writing has improved greatly through forming my thesis statement. Through many essay

drafts, projects, revisions, and tutoring sessions, I have been able to enhance my thesis statement.

In learning effective thesis statements, essay In the Spotlight (My Revised and Polished Essay),

through Project Space Final Essay by Clifford Ramos, Ramos states, Experiencing mistakes in

anything I do, whether its on a math test or in a car driving test, enhances my understanding in

improvement. The monstrousness behind not practicing can result into embarrassment and a loss

of credibility. With this, reveals that musicians need to apply a greater sense of awareness in

sounding professional, practicing, and adapting to change (Ramos). The use of creating clear

sentences and word choices has played a role in forming my thesis statement strong in setting up

my road map. From not elaborating on my topic of the monstrousness within a musical space, to

explaining what exactly is monstrous, demonstrates my improvement in forming clear and

constructive thesis statements.

Going through ups and downs in my writing with Professor Beadle, I have learned from

my mistakes and developed a well-rounded use of incorporating evidence. In writing many

essays and getting lots of help from many resources, I have improved my writing in bringing

forth evidence in my essays. In talking about Godzilla and its size, essay The Evolution in Time

(My Revised and Polished Essay), through Project Text Final Essay by Clifford Ramos, Ramos

states, When discussing about the measurements of the two Godzillas, credible website for I09

and staff writer James Whitbrook in the article called The Original Godzilla Would Have a Very

Hard Time Trying to Stomp Around Modern Tokyo states, Clocking in at 118.5 meters tall, the

latest incarnation of the king of kaiju seen in Shin Godzilla is the largest version ever seen on

screeneven coming in above legendarys monstrous take on Big G in 2014. But the very first

Godzilla was less than half that size... and that wouldnt help him much in modern

Japan(Whitbrook) (Ramos). The improvement is shown through my background of revealing

the credible website, as well as, selecting a spot-on piece of evidence supporting the topic of

Godzilla and the change of its size. Not only was the choice of the evidence effective than the

other evidences I used prior, but the use of using evidence from a credible website was a first

time for me in my learning process of writing argumentative essays.

Through practice and practice on writing tons of drafts and revisions, I have very much

improved on my direct message in applying my counter-argument and refutation. In writing lots

of argumentative essays throughout high school, my use of counter-argument and refutation has

never been better. In showing my progress relating towards aliens and religious intolerance,

essay The Outsider, through Project Media Final Essay by Clifford Ramos, Ramos states,
Ramos 3

Although the connection with aliens and religious intolerance is strong, others may see that

aliens can also be tolerant and kind. In discussing the many types of aliens that expressed

tolerant behavior and kindness, credible website for Science Focus and editor Alexander

McNamara in the article called 10 of the most friendly alien arrivals in film states, Aliens

arent all that bad. Sure, some of them seem hell-bent on sucking your brains out, overthrowing

the planet and generally speeding up the inevitable demise of the human race, but some of them

have actually proven to be quite helpful Not only did the glowing-fingered ET bring

friendship, happiness and a flying bike to young Elliot, the final scene showed the world that

even the coldest of hearts could crack and shed a tear(McNamara) (Ramos). In writing my

counter-argument and refutation, I have improved greatly on my way of starting my counter-

argument. Beginning with although and other similar counter-argument sentence starters, have

made me develop a lot in writing any kind of counter-argument with any type of argumentative

essay. My use of using aliens and their kindness for my counter-argument has reflected how

understanding I have become in regards to the essay topic of aliens and religious intolerance.

Through attending all the classes, I have had with Professor Beadle, I have gained better

knowledge through forming my thesis statement, applying evidence, and incorporating a

counter-argument and refutation. I would like to thank Professor Beadle for all the work that he

has done for me. Thank you for making me a better writer and teaching me not just English, but

also English and its influence on the real world.
