INTRODUCTION

This is the first edition of the Azores Rare and Scarce Bird Report. Various constraints have
resulted in a requirement to produce an initial report which can be developed further in the
future.

In this first edition a systematic list with selected photographs is provided. Scope for
development includes analysis, additional papers and integration into other ornithological
initiatives.

Therefore, contributors and collaborators for further development of the report are most
welcome.
