DATE: 14 February, 2000

MODEL: 5060 Hydraulic Breaker (S/N 754400001 754400011)

(S/N 754600001 754600035)

SUBJECT: Damaged Hoses/Excessive Breaker Housing Clearance (01R97)

NOTE: This letter replaces Service Letter dated 1 February, 2000. Discard the old letter. Page
3 was added to provide information to add a hole to the shim shipped with the original letter.

The breaker housing on early production model 5060 breakers has excessive clearance between the
breaker and the housing. During operation the charge valve and hoses may contact the breaker frame
and become damaged.

The breaker frame in current production was changed to address this problem. The clearance
between the breaker and frame was reduced and the holes in the frame for the charge valve and hoses
were enlarged.

Parts and information to update early production breakers is now being sent to dealers. We ask dealers
to contact all owners of affected breakers and make arrangements for this repair and correct all
affected breakers in dealer inventory.

A shim (quantity 1) is shipped for each breaker

and must be installed between the breaker and Shim P/N 6725305 Charge Hole
frame.

The holes for the charge valve and hoses must

be enlarged.

See page 2 for the procedure.

Repair Procedure 1 Flat Side of Breaker
A service manual for the 5060 breaker is not
available at this time. The 6560 breaker is very
similar. See the 6560 Breaker Service Manual
for the procedure and remove the breaker
from the frame.
Some breakers may not have a provision for a Wear Plate Shim
lifting eye. If so, use a bar to slide the breaker
from the frame far enough to use an approved Offset Side of Breaker
lifting strap around the body of the breaker.
Modify the shim as instructed on page 3 of
this letter.

[1] Use the fasteners and wear plate to locate

the shim in the breaker frame as shown in the
exploded view. Be careful to install the shim 2
on the offset side of the breaker frame.

[2] The side of the frame is not shown in this

drawing to help show the area to weld.

Weld the shim to the frame using a 1/8 inch filet

weld. Place the weld at the very end of the shim
to avoid welding the wear plate. Do not weld
the wear plate.

Weld only the top end of the shim. (The weld is

to keep the shim in place when servicing the
Weld this end only
breaker and not intended to add strength.)

Bobcat Ingersoll Rand will provide warranty compensation for three (3) hours labor to modify the
breaker frame. One additional hour is allowed for travel time for retailed machines. When filing
warranty claims use service code 01R97.

Modify the shim before installing it.

The shim that was supplied with the original Field Modification Service Letter dated 1 February, 2000
was not complete. The access hole for the grease fitting is missing. Please add the new hole to the
shim (per the information below) before installing the shim between the breaker and the frame.

Modify the shim by adding a 11/4 inch (32 mm)

diameter hole as shown [A]. A
The hole can be drilled with a hole saw or cut. 3.00
It must provide access for the grease fitting (76,2 mm)
when the breaker is assembled.
