Lord of the Flies Character Presentation

Assignment:

In small groups, you will choose one of the following characters and present a thorough analysis of
him to the class.

Ralph
Piggy
Jack
Simon

1) Utilizing Google Slides via Google Classroom, you will create a published visual aid that has the analysis of the
character. Use your brainstorming character charts (yellow paper) as the minimum elements that need to be
included. You are essentially introducing us to your character.

2) You must include;

a. At least 3 direct quotes from the novel

i. These could be used to enhance your character's traits, or provide further reasoning to the aspects
explained below.
b. Personality traits
i. Strengths/weaknesses, relationships with other characters, etc.
ii. For example. At the beginning of the novel, Jack suggest he be called Merridew - his last name (pg. 16),
he is suggesting that he wants to instil a sense of authority. Who do you typically call their by their last
name? Teachers, professionals, adults - people higher than you.
c. Physical traits
i. Piggy is described as, the fat boy (pg. 3) he then proceeds to remove his glasses while discussing his
asthma. These are two physical traits that describe Piggy and could be backed up with direct quotes.
d. 3 modern day celebrity friends, with reasoning why they would be acquaintances
i. For example, Ralph could be friends with Barack Obama because he demonstrates leadership, and is
always looking out for the greater good. He is charismatic, and concerned with maintaining civilization,
even during chaotic times.
e. A theme song that represents your character, and a brief description as to why this song was chosen.
(** must be school appropriate **)
i. For example, Piggys theme song could be White and Nerdy - Wierd Al Yankovic. This song exemplifies his
physical appearance, and the opinions of others about him.
Your presentation length should be approximately 4-6 minutes long with each member showing equal involvement.

Use your time wisely; plan your presentation carefully.

You will want to divide jobs among your group members (ie divide slides topics amongst yourselves).

This is a GROUP project, so you will be assessed on your ability to work in a group (see group project marking rubric).
