Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray Featured Speaker

Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray will be the Featured Speaker and Guest of
Honor at the quarterly “Candidates Night” meeting of the Butler County Progressive
Political Action Committee.

Cordray will speak to the PAC on Thursday, September 9 at the LCNB Bank
Building, 30 Park Place West, uptown Oxford. The event, which begins at 7 p.m., is free,
and the public is cordially invited to attend.

Before his election as Ohio Attorney General in 2008, Cordray served as Treasurer
of Franklin County (Columbus) and then of the State of Ohio. He is a candidate for re-
election in November.

During his tenure as AG, Cordray has pursued eight major lawsuits against Wall
Street defendants, including AIG, Bank of America, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and Merril
Lynch. Through these lawsuits , Cordray has helped recover over $2 billion for investors
and retirees in 2009 alone.

“I pledge to the people of Ohio that I will use my office to stand up for them against
the forces that wrecked our economy and caused so much pain for so many,” Cordray said.

A strong advocate for veterans, Corday proposed a service bonus for veterans of the
Persian Gulf, Aghanistan,and Iraq wars. More than 7 in 10 voters approved the bonus in
November 2009.

Cordray has been endorsed for re-election by numerous groups, including the Ohio
Association of Professional Firefighters, the Ohio Fraternal Order of Police, the Ohio
Patrolman's Benevolent Association, and the mayors of Ohio's ten largest cities.

An honors graduate of Michigan State University and a Marshall Scholar at Oxford


University, England, Cordray was editor of the Law Review at Chicago Law School.
Cordray clerked for Supreme Court Justices Byron White and Anthony Kennedy, and
taught for fifteen yeas at the Ohio State University Law School. He became Ohio's first
Solicitor General.

The first Ohio statewide official to endorse Barack Obama for President, Cordray
was an Obama Delegate at the 2008 National Democratic Convention in Denver.

Cordray is an undefeated five-time champion on the “Jeopardy” TV show.

Cordray will be introduced by Middletown Attorney J. C. Shew, a candidate for the


Ohio legislature from the 53rd district, which includes Oxford City and Oxford Township.

candidate for the 54th Ohio legislative seat (Hamilton Fairfield, Ross); Suzi Rubin,
candidate for the 55th Ohio legislative seat (eastern Butler County); Butch Carter,
candidate for Butler County Commissioner; and George Stephen, candidate for Butler
County Auditor.
