AUSTRALIA

The Australian education system is divided into three blocks and, in general, is similar in most
states. Here we explain the contents of each block.

PRESCHOOL
This educational stage not is mandatory but 85% of children receive pre - school education. Its
duration is generally of an academic year , four to five years.

SCHOOL EDUCATION
The duration of School Education is of 13 courses (from 6 to 18 years) and is compulsory from 5 to
15 years . It is similar across the country and is divided into primary and secondary education .

In the last year of high school they are conducted tests that will serve as yardstick for entry into
higher education and to obtain the Certificate of Higher Secondary Education . In the last year of
high school, you can get a certificate as well as being recognized by institutions of higher and
vocational education in Australia, it is recognized by many international institutions.

TERTIARY EDUCATION
The tertiary education in Australia is divided between vocational education ( vocational
education or VET) and higher education ( higher education ). The first one provides
technical and practical training for the professional world.
Bachelor Degree .
It is the basic university degree and have a minimum duration of three years.

Associate Degree.
Title two years which includes theoretical training and skills development laborare. You
can study at universities or VET.

Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma.

Courses deepening of previous studies performed after the Bachelor Degree and last 6
months ( diploma ) or year ( certificate ).

Master Degree .
Graduate study of one or two years that is done after completing a Bachelor
Degree.
Doctoral Degree.

It is the highest education provided by universities and the work is characterized by


research and presentation and reading of a thesis . It has an average duration of three
years .

ECONOMY

the country now has one of the highest growth rates in the developed world.
The GDP growth rate reached 2.9% in 2016, a slight improvement in 2015.

The tertiary sector has a dominant position in the Australian economy, it


contributes 70% of GDP and employs 70% of the workforce. However, the
agricultural and mining sector dominates exports. Australia is a vast
agricultural country and one of the world's leading exporters of wool, meat,
wheat and cotton. Agriculture employs 2.6% of the active population and
contributes 2.5% of GDP. The country has numerous mineral raw materials
and energy, which guarantee considerable income to be exported. Australia
is among the top ten countries in the production and export of almost all
minerals. It has the largest reserves of numerous strategic resources; for
example, it has 40% of the confirmed uranium reserves in the world.
