Monster Novel Essay Reflection

My Monster Novel Analysis Essay was the essay that took me the most time to

revise. Based off the comments Ms. Batty left me about the organization of my paper, my

thesis was the first thing I went to clean up. My original thesis read

could concise that the replicants are the monsters-I, however, argue that

when viewing the literature through a Psychoanalytic lens, we learn about

the human condition through monstrous behaviors driven by their psychic

apparatus; lack of empathy; and the exploitation of non-human life

forms.

Was changed to

assume the replicants to be the monsters-I, however, argue that when analyzing

this book through a Psychoanalytic lens, the humans become monsters through

their Id-driven actions; lack of empathy and mechanization of non-human life

forms.

Shortening, and restructuring my thesis also changed the order and length of my body

paragraphs.

Next, I removed the paragraph that used Voight-Kampff test as an example of

super ego, as well as removing a source from an article about Super-Ego.

I also removed the paragraph that incorporated a Marxist lens for analyzing the text.

Though it did support my paragraph on the mechanization of non-human lives, Ms. Batty

was right in the sense where the prompt is not asking for a Marxist lens. I also went back,

and removed any repletion or cross mentioning of topics in my essay for clarity. Lastly, I

went back on my essay and replaced the word Bladerunner with bounty hunter. The

last part of my revision was going back to proof read for any spelling errors, sentence

fragments, and run on sentences. I believe that by removing the paragraphs that despite

their credibility, did not aid to the essay flow, made my essay much more clear and to the

point!
