TExES Competencies

Competency 001: The teacher understands human development processes and applies this knowledge to

plan instruction and ongoing assessment that motivate students and are responsive to their developmental

characteristics and needs.

To be a teacher, you have to be aware and have great knowledge on the human developmental process. Being

mindful of the human development process can help a teacher on daily routine with her children in the

classroom.

Competency 002:

The teacher understands student diversity and knows how to plan learning experiences and design assessments that

are responsive to differences among students and that promote all students learning.

A teacher must consider and accept all students diversity, and have well thought out lesson plans that can involve

the whole class and advance the knowledge of the chidren in the classroom.

Competency 003:

The teacher understands procedures for designing effective and coherent instruction and assessment based on

appropriate learning goals and objectives.

As an educator, it would be very important to meet each and every and every child's need in learning, and every

child's need in learning, as in demonstrating the same objective, but in different ways, as each child is different

and learns differently.

Competency 004:

The teacher understands learning processes and factors that impact student learning and demonstrates this knowledge

by planning effective, engaging instruction and appropriate assessments.

It is important to be alert of each child's learning characteristics, so a teacher carefully plan out her lesson plans

depending on her class the teacher can know how to teach it.

Competency 005:

The teacher knows how to establish a classroom climate that fosters learning, equity and excellence and uses this

knowledge to create a physical and emotional environment that is safe and productive.

Most importantly, it is a must to create a warm, comterable environmetn for the children so they can feel safe and

be able to be motivated to learn.

Competency 006:

The teacher understands strategies for creating an organized and productive learning environment and for managing

student behavior.

A teacher should have ways of making her classroom environment organized, decorated with educational grade

level things.

Competency 007:

The teacher understands and applies principles and strategies for communicating effectively in varied teaching and

learning contexts.

A teacher must apply a set up strategies to help communicate in a variety of ways.

Competency 008:

The teacher provides appropriate instruction that actively engages students in the learning process.

It is important to have a way of getting the children's attention at the same time, whether it is a clap or flickering

the lights to get the class room attention.

Competency 009:

The teacher incorporates the effective use of technology to plan, organize, deliver and evaluate instruction for all

students.

A teacher organizes the advantage of teaching technology and plans out the curriculum carefully with thought,

looks over it thoroughly, and then delivers it to the students.

Competency 010:

The teacher monitors student performance and achievement; provides students with timely, high-quality feedback;

and responds flexibly to promote learning for all students.

It is important to supervise over each students achievements, acts, completion and much more. It is also very

important to have class on routine.

Competency 011:

The teacher understands the importance of family involvement in childrens education and knows how to interact and

communicate effectively with families.

It is most important to be involved with the students and their families, and be able to completely communicate

with their families and have them in the loop in what is going on and how their child is presiding in school.

Competency 012:

The teacher enhances professional knowledge and skills by effectively interacting with other members of the

educational community and participating in various types of professional activities.

A teacher appreciates being able to effectively connect and be social with other sections in the school.

Competency 013:

The teacher understands and adheres to legal and ethical requirements for educators and is knowledgeable of the

structure of education in Texas.

A teacher is aware of legal and qualifications in teaching in the state of Texas.
