V. CONCLUSIONS
& The effect of uniform and discrete dither on the corre-
lation between quantization error and the dithered sinu-
soidal input signal has been investigated theoretically. In-
creasing dither amplitude results in less correlation for
uniform dither. When the amplitude of discrete dither is
kept constant, less correlation is obtained as the number
of PDF impulses is increased. Uniform dither is thus bet-
ter than discrete dither in decorrelating quantization error
and input signal, since in the limiting case when the num-
n ber of impulses is infinite the effect of discrete dither tends
(b) toward that of a uniform dither.
