SUMMARY OF FINDINGS

This study was conducted for the purpose of determining the visible health hazards of welding in
Be-NHS-Main. The unstructured interview was utilized for gathering data. The research questionnaire
served as the instrument for collecting data. The respondents are the Grade 11 and 12 who are taking
SMAW as their specialization. The inquiry was conducted during school year 2017-2018.

The findings of the study are the following;

1. The students experience inflammation of eyes, skin burn, smoke of welding, titanus and radiations
during their welding demonstration according to their responses.
2. The study show that student treat welding hazards by applying 5s, using proper P.P.E., cleaning
the surrounding, consulting a doctor and applying first aid like washing affected eyes into warm
water, using skin lotion, putting some alcohol and applying eye drops.
3. The effects of hazards to the body of the student learners in SMAW are asthma, wounds, skin
burn is among the lights effects of welding and extreme effects of welding hazards to the student
are blindness and lung cancer.
4. According to the response of the SMAW learners the ways on how to avoid hazards of welding
are using proper P.P.E. carefulness, using safety equipment, securing the working area.

Conclusion;

1. During welding demonstration there are hazards that can be encountered like inflammation of
eyes, skin burn, smoke of welding, titanus and radiation.
2. We can prevent this welding hazards through applying 5s, using proper P.P.E. cleaning the
surrounding, consulting a doctor, applying first aid, carefulness, using safety equipment and
securing the working area.

Recommendation;

Based on the finding and conclusion of this study, the following recommendation are given;

1. The SMAW student must wear the P.P.E. during their demonstration to secure their safety.
2. The SMAW student should follow the proper rules, instruction and procedure during welding.
3. The SMAW student must attend training, seminars about the hazards in welding.
4. The researcher recommend that the next researcher who would like to research on this topic
will conduct in other school and welding shops.
