Theoldestcivilizationintheworld,theIndianCivilizationwasastorehouseofdiscoveries.It
wouldntbewrongtocallourancientRishisasScientists.Themany,manydiscoveriesthey
madeaboutthisworldstillamazethescientistsoftoday.Thesediscoveriesareinthefieldof
Maths,Astronomy,Metallurgy,Astrology,Music,Dance,Philosophy,Medicine,Spiritualityand
more.WeHindushadthisuniquewayofrecordingthesediscoveriesintheformofShlokasor
Stotras(hymnsinapoetryform),usingsimpleorcomplexwords,inSanskritthelanguage
ofthatgeneration.Becausetheywerecodedinthisform,alotofthesediscoveriesremained
hiddenfromthemodernworldanditisonlynowthatwearerediscoveringthem,especially
inthelast50100years.AsIsaidinmypreviousblogonHinduism,theinvadersnotjust
lootedourcountry,theyalsodestroyedmanyvaluableworksandthesearelostforever.

Beforewetalkaboutourancientdiscoveries,itisimportantthatonerealizesand
veneratesourancientRishisforsharingthisknowledgeFREELY,withonlythe
expectationthateveryonebecomesmoreandmoreknowledgeableandusethis
knowledgetoreachouttotheSupremeOneBrahman.Suchselflessnessand
generositywaswhatourIndiawasknownfor.Weneverpatentedorearnedfromour
discoveries&whilethismightseemtobefoolishnesstosome,thiswasthereasonwhyour
SanatanDharmstillexistswhileothershavebeenlostinthesandsoftime.Nowonwardsto
MathsPleasenotethatIwillnotbetalkingabouttheZeroortheDecimalSystemorthe

FIBONACCINUMBERSERIES&RATIO:ItisPingalawhoiscreditedwiththediscoveryof
theFibonacchisequence.HehaswrittenaboutthisinhisbookChandahsastra.Insimple
languageChandahisthemeterusedforwritingversesinSanskrit.Thismeansthatone
coulduseacertainnumberofsyllableswithacertainnumberofversestowriteaShloka
foreg.aGayatriChandahhas3verseswith8syllables,aAnushtubhChandahhas4verses
of8syllables,etc.UsingtheseChandahinawaytograntcertainenergieswasauniqueform
ofwritinginancientIndia.FibonacciSequenceMatrameruMatraaunitofmetrical
quantityequaltoashortvowelinSanskritandotherIndianlanguages&Meru

firsttwobonesofeachdigit(finger)is1:1.618&theratiobetweenthenexttwoboneson
eachdigitisthesame.Theratiofromthenaveltoyourhead&fromthenaveltothebottom
ofyourfeetisalso1:1.618(NowyouknowwhyinBharatNatyam,thedancerbendsherlegs
