Students take turns reading a book to access their reading skills.
A student reads their book while Mrs. Barrett checks to see whether all their words are

Important events

The teacher that I am working with today has given the student an IEP assessment to assess where the
student is in terms of what she knows. She then takes the assessment to find what she needs work on.

At the end of the day the student is given an exit slip to verify that they were able to learn a new
concept or the lesson presented that day. A how did I do today chart is presented to the student so
they can evaluate themselves on how they did today. If they need more help they would circle needs
help, if they think they kind of have a hang on things they would circle kinda, and if they have
successfully understood the material they then circle Got it. Based on which they circle, the teacher
will approach the student and ask what they need more help with so that they move onto the Got it
stage.

Today the teacher has informed me on how IEPs and other educational services work. Going into the
field one must be very knowledgeable about the services they need to complete and what needs the
child will have throughout the school year.

The impact that the performance activities left on the student is one in which the student is able to
effectively learn and take information in a more versatile way. Different methods are used to explain
concepts to the student. He or she may understand a lesson in a different manner than the other
students. Teaching different methods can help all students be on the same page so that they can move
onto the next lesson.

A fifth grader, uses a COPS card that stands for

C Capitalize the first letter

O One finger space between words

P Punctuation marks

S Sounds right when I re-read it and everything is spelled correctly

Question

A question I have is in regards to teaching specific groups of students that need help in a particular
subject. If one student exceeds above the others is he or she supposed to continue to stay in that group
and wait for the others to catch up?
