ARMY.

HISTORY

Till 19TH century, British Indian army helplessly fulfill their need of horses from home grown British and
European breed bu it costs a lot of money to them and put a huge load on budget. As a result of this
stress, British govt decided to build and set up such breeding centers where they were able to breed
their Best horses without any difficulty.in 1895 commission was set up to look in to this matter as pass
on the best recommendations as early as possible. After recommendations, centers foundation were
laid in central Punjab at Faisalabad and Sahiwal. Due to outbreak of disease in 1902, whole set up was
shifted/relocate to present location at Mona, mundi bahauddin.
Location

It is spread over 10,000 acres of fertile land.it has lush green fields along with fauna and fora of natural
species. Topography of this place is like the heaven on earth and how it is maintained is truly an art of
Pakistan army. Eastern side of the depot is neighbored with lower Jhelum canal. Land Over the side of
canal is covered with Dilfer forest trees.

BREED TYPES

Through breed, pedigree, Arabians and stallion horses are quite famous traits which are used for
breeding. Since 1970,percheron(French),moniker(Greek),cleave land(British) and hanevarious(German)
breed is also very famous and brought here from these countries to increase their number and used by
locals by mating with their local breeds. Apart from these, donkey breeding and training is also done at
the facility since its inception on 1906.

FOOD

Lush green grass and fora is available for the animals which is locally produce at the facility with several
measures taken to prevent any kind defects caused by the pesticides thats why any kind of chemical
use is prohibited inside the facility. Hence organic methods are used to plant the food for the animals.

SUPPLY

This facility is totally run under the control of Pakistan army to fulfill their needs as well as needs of local
community which is quite fascinating. Donkeys, mules, horses are used by the army for multipurpose.
Animals are used in the mountainous regions and hilly areas to carry heavy loads like weapons, luggage
and sometimes injured people/soldiers. They are very powerful and muscles are quite healthy hence
pushed against the limits in difficult harsh situations.

TRAINING

Trained staff is always there to maintain high standard .special lectures are delivered to commissioned,
noncommissioned, noncommissioned officers to tell them the proper way to treat and train the horses
in professional way. Personnel from different friendly countries like Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bangladesh,
Nepal, Sri Lanka and some other countries visit the center to learn the skills adopted by Pakistan army.
Army equitation school is also working under the command to train horses and instructors for sports like
polo, horse jumping,riding.39 week long course is introduced managed and teaches by the professional
staff for remount training of the horses. After this course polo training is also required to maintain high
standards and compete at international level. This all is worked under the scrutiny of the federation of
international polo.

Certification/membership

ARAB LEAGUE HORSE ORGANISATION: It was established in 1972 and it has 70 members.it main office
is located in London .its main purpose is to preserve the Arab breed and increase the growth of Arab
horse all over the world without any kind of adulteration.
