PRACTICES OF THE NIGHT OF DESIRES &

THE NIGHT OF ASCENSION

Lailatur Raghaib (Sacred Night of Desires)


The first Thursday of Rajab is called Laylat ar-Raghaib. It is one of the most
important nights in Islamic history. It is the night that the Prophet (s) was
transferred from his father to his mothers womb. All that you wish for on this
night, God gives you for the sake of His beloved Prophet (s).

Lailatul Israu wal Miraj (Night of Ascension)


On the night preceding the 27th day of Rajab is considered by many to be the night
in which Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was invited to the Divine Presence.

Here are the practices of the Naqshbandi Nazimiya Sufi Way to perform between
Salatul Asr and Maghrib in these holy nights:

INTENTION

Nawaytul arbaeen, naway tul itikaf, nuwaytul khalwa, nuwaytul uzla,
nuwaytul riyada, nuwaytus suluk wal siyam, lillahi taala fi hadhal masjid.

I intend the forty (days of seclusion), I intend seclusion in the mosque, I intend
seclusion, I intend isolation, I intend discipline (of the ego), I intend to travel in
Gods Path, I intend to fast for the sake of God in this mosque.

Recite praises on Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

Pray four rakaat of salat ut Tasabih.

SALAT ASH SHUKUR AND QUNUT INVOCATION
Pray 2 rakat (cycle) Salatul Shukur to thank Allah for everything He has given us
of His bounty.

DUA WAL FATIHA
Make invocation and read the first chapter of Quran (Al Fatiha).
