8.0 Organizational and Technical Assessment

RV rentals is a service business. In service organizations business exist to services

only rather than products. The most beneficial part of organizational structure of a
service business is that one employee can handle multiple tasks, using a combination
of technical skills and interpersonal relationships to work with both organization and
customers. We are currently using The Zero Governance model for our business, in
which there is no hierarchy and formal management at all. As it is controlled by five
partners so no one tell each other what to do, there are no promotions or job titles.
There are no bonuses and pay is equally divided among five members from profit.

8.1 What is the proposed organizational structure to support this new product or service?

The recommended organizational structure for RV-Rental is Flatarchies. Flatarchies

lies somewhere in between flat organizations and hierarchies. RV-Rentals will be
containing little bit of both structure. As we are assuming that our business will grow in
future, so already existing flat structure of our 5 members will control a hierarchy of the
company. Each member will have an equal role but tasks will be divided into 5
segments, which includes; Finance, Marketing, HR, operations, and Maintenance
department. Finance department will control the cash inflows and out flows, forecasting
financial statements, percentage of amount that should be reinvested in business. It will
also focus on a percentage of income that can be invested into financial institutions
markets to generate a good sum of revenue for our company. Marketing department
focus will expand to all Pakistan, as currently it only focuses on the northern areas. It
will be done through our creative marketing team which will control our website and
social media accounts. HR will work on training of the employees, as we will be hiring
more drivers, guiders and mechanics. As our business will be dealing with trips mostly
to northern areas, which need a very good driving skills as well as good security
measures so that any difficult situation can be avoided. HR will also train its employees
to deal better with customers weather in office or on call. Operations department will
handle day-to-day activities. Maintenance department will be doing daily check up of
RVs.
This type of organizational structure can be developed into any type of company.
Flatarchy structure is seen as temporary structure which can be developed in new
structure when needed especially in case of developing new service or product. In RV-R
business our model is more powerful and innovative than other organizational
structures, and only focuses on innovation which may help us in the future of the
company.
