Summary:

This report is based on the condition of Muslims in modern day India. It starts right from the
beginning, with the arrival of Islam and Muslims in the subcontinent and categorically discusses
each period that they passed through. It includes the major achievements of Muslims Mughal
rulers, how the next generation lived during British rule and the struggle that they faced during
times of Partition of India. Through a timeline, the report analyses major events that occurred after
partition that had a major impact on the lives of Muslims i.e. numerous riots and demolition of the
Babri Masjid. Economic factors, employment and social perspective of their lives is also discussed.
Moreover, there is a detailed analysis of how the Muslims of India are living today, what struggles
and discrimination they face and how it can be tackled. Also, there is an insight into the claims of
a secular India, the role of media and the condition of Bollywood.
The report is based on one of historys most iconic conflicts, the Indo-Pak situation in the sub-
continent, and the reasons and circumstances that lead to the current state of the former. The sub-
continent is an ethnically diverse land, where the dominant religions are Hinduism and Islam. Most
of its history is riddled with conflicts between the two and wars for dominance in the area. While
the times have changed, the dispute still stands. Today, more than 70 years after the creation of
modern day India and Pakistan, there is still a thorough blend of the two religions in both countries,
mostly India. With more than 14% of people in India being Muslim, tension between the two
religions is never far away.
