Step 1

Youll need:

1. Contact information for the counselor or other school representative who will complete your
Common Application School Report (including the Counselor Recommendation) and submit your
official secondary school transcript.
2. Contact information for a teacher who will complete the Teacher Evaluation form.
3. Nonrefundable $80 application fee. Students who are unable to pay the application fee can request
a fee waiver.
4. To indicate campus of interest: When applying to NYU through the Common Application, you will
be asked to indicate your primary campus of interest (Abu Dhabi, New York City, or Shanghai).
While we assume Abu Dhabi will be your primary campus of interest, you have the option of
indicating up to two alternate campuses of interest and your application will not be disadvantaged in
any way if you choose to do so.

Step 2
Submit Your Common Application School Report and Transcripts
Common Application School Report and Transcripts
Make sure to have your counselor submit the Common Application Mid Year Report (with an updated
transcript) by March 1 through the Common Application. This should show your first semester/term
grades from your final year. Transcripts must come from an official source to be processed. Use your
name exactly as it appears on your passport or birth certificate on your application and supporting
documents.

Teacher or Instructor Evaluation

Ask your counselor and teacher to complete and submit the required school forms. Once you provide
an email address for your school officials in the Common Application, they will be sent a message
inviting them to fill out the necessary forms online. While digital submission via the Common
Application is preferred, they may submit any documents in hard copy by mail. You should follow
up with your counselor and teacher to confirm that all required materials have been submitted on your
behalf.

Timing
The school officials you identify do not need to wait for you to submit your application before they
submit supporting materials, but universities will not be able to access their forms until you have
submitted your application.

Step 3
Submit Your Appropriate Standardized Testing
Send official score reports or predicted scores. Results from scholastic exams are an important criteria for
evaluating our global pool of applicants. With that said, NYU has one of the most flexible testing policies of
any college or university. You only have to submit results from one of the following:

SAT (essay test not required)

ACT (writing test not required)
Three SAT Subject Test scores
Three AP exam scores
International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
 Three IB higher-level exam scores if not an IB Diploma candidate
Nationally accredited exam that shows you completed your secondary education

Note: Test scores must come from an official source to be processed. Use your name exactly as it appears on
your passport or birth certificate on your application and supporting documents.

Step 4
Teacher Evaluation
You will need to submit one teacher or instructor evaluation. When you start the Common Application online,
make sure you have contact information for a teacher who will complete the Teacher Evaluation form.

Once you provide an email address for your school officials in the Common Application, they will be sent a
message inviting them to fill out the evaluation form online.

Remember: Use your name exactly as it appears on your passport or birth certificate on
your application and supporting documents.

Step 5
Short Response (Essay)
You will need to submit a short response to one question on the Common Application: Why NYU? This is
probably one of the most important parts of the NYU application. Make sure you talk about why you're
interested in studying your intended major. If you're undecided, you may talk about why you want to figure it
out at NYU.

Sending Documents
To be considered official, all documents (including academic transcripts) require an original
signature of the registrar or other designated school official, or the institution's seal. If a document
isn't in English, then a translation should be provided (a school official or a translation agency
accredited in your country can issue the translation). All official testing should come from the
relevant examination board or testing agency.

Optional Arts Portfolio

Students who wish to highlight their talent in the fine or performing arts visual art, music, theater, film, and
new media may submit an Arts Portfolio. This is a way for students intending to participate in the NYU
Abu Dhabi arts community to highlight their artistic and creative talents for the admission process.

The submission of an Arts Portfolio is entirely optional and will be reviewed at the discretion of the NYU
Office of Undergraduate Admissions and the NYU Abu Dhabi Arts and Humanities faculty. Submissions that
do not have the required parts of the NYU undergraduate application or submissions received after the official
Common Application deadlines will not be reviewed.

Students who submit an Arts Portfolio are not required to major in the arts at NYU Abu Dhabi. Similarly,
students who do not submit an Arts Portfolio may still study or participate in the arts at NYU Abu Dhabi.

What's in a Portfolio?
There are two components that students should submit in order to complete the portfolio:

1. A brief (one-paragraph) statement discussing your artistic talent(s) and interest(s); and
2. Creative materials in support of your artistic interest(s).

Please note that portfolios cannot be returned to applicants upon submission.

Actors and performing artists should submit no more than three video segments recordings (up to ten minutes
in total).

Financial Support

NYU Abu Dhabi recognizes that higher education is a significant investment, and we are committed to
attracting and educating exceptionally talented students from around the world. NYUAD provides financial
support in the form of fellowships and need-based grants, to those who qualify. Every admitted student is also
automatically considered for merit-based fellowships.

We aim to attract the best possible students from around the world, regardless of financial circumstances. Once
a student is admitted to NYUAD, our priority is to work with the student and family to make it possible to
attend. The Office of Financial Support will tailor NYUAD's generous financial assistance to the individual
educational needs of each admitted student. In recognition of NYUAD's highly-selective admissions process,
and of the important role that the University plays in shaping future world leaders, the Abu Dhabi government
provides fellowships to all admitted UAE National students in the form of the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed
NYUAD Scholarship for Exceptional Emirati Students.

Admission to NYU Abu Dhabi is need-blind: Admissions decisions are made without knowledge of a
student's financial need.
Financial Support at NYU Abu Dhabi
All students are automatically considered for merit-based support. Merit-based fellowships may only cover a
portion of the cost of attendance.

Admitted Emirati nationals and children of Emirati mothers are awarded the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed
NYUAD Scholarship for Exceptional Emirati Students, a fellowship that covers the full cost of attendance for
four years. No CSS Profile application is required for Emirati nationals.

All other students who file the CSS Profile will be considered for need-based support based on their family's
financial circumstances. Need-based support may cover up to the full cost of attendance, including tuition,
foreign travel for study integral to a student's academic program, room and board, health insurance, personal
expenses, books, and many student life activities. Financial support may also include up to two tickets each
year between Abu Dhabi and the students country of permanent residence. NYU Abu Dhabi encourages all
students, regardless of citizenship, to file the CSS Profile as the Office of Financial Support gives
consideration to a broad range of family situations.

Please note, students whose permanent addresses are within the UAE are not eligible to receive funding for
home travel. A student whose permanent residence changes must notify the Office of Global Education
at nyuad.studenttravel@nyu.edu and the Office of Financial Support at nyuad.financial.support@nyu.edu for
reconsideration.

Financial Support Award Notification

New students who are eligible for NYU Abu Dhabi financial support will be notified of their awards at the
time they are offered admission, as long as all of the required documents have been provided and the
application deadlines are met. Students will receive financial support in the form of merit-based scholarships
and/or need-based grants, if applicable.

Students will also receive information on how to access their awards online once they are available. The
awards will be provided via NYU Albert with an award letter. Students who have questions or concerns about
their award are encouraged to contact the NYU Abu Dhabi Office of Financial Support.

Please note accepting the offer of admission is also an acceptance of the financial support award offered.
