ABSTRAK

Luka bakar adalah luka yang terjadi akibat sentuhan permukaan tubuh dengan dengan
benda-benda yang menghasilkan panas baik kontak secara langsung maupun tidak langsung.
Luka bakar mengakibatkan tidak nyaman dan sensasi terbakar pada kulit, oleh karena itu
diperlukan pengobatan untuk meringankan efek yang ditimbulkan tersebut. Tanin merupakan
salah satu senyawa kimia yang terdapat dalam daun bayam merah. Tanin memiliki khasiat
sebagai penyamak kulit sehingga efektif digunakan untuk mempercepat penyembuhan luka.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui mutu fisik dan efektivitas ekstrak etanol daun
bayam merah yang diformulasikan dalam sediaan gel dalam mempercepat penyembuhan luka
bakar. Ekstrak diperoleh dengan cara maserasi selama 3x24 jam dengan 3x penyaringan lalu
dipekatkan dengan Rotary Evaporator. Ekstrak pekat dibuat dalam bentuk sediaan gel dengan
konsentrasi 5%, 10% dan 15% . Selanjutnya diaplikasikan pada hewan uji yang menderita
luka bakar tipe II. Data pengamatan selama 14 hari kemudian dianalisis dengan metode One
Way Anova dan menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun bayam merah yang dibuat dalam
sediaan gel memiliki aktivitas mempercepat penyembuhan luka bakar ditandai dengan
perbedaan nyata antara kontrol negatif dengan kelompok perlakuan dan efektif pada
konsentrasi 15%.

ABSTRACT

Burns are injuries that result from touching the surface of the body with objects that
produce heat either directly or indirectly. Burns cause uncomfortable and burning sensations
in the skin, therefore treatment is necessary to alleviate the effects. Tanin is one of the
chemical compounds contained in red spinach leaves. Tanin has the efficacy as a tanner so
effectively used to accelerate wound healing. This study aims to determine the physical
quality and effectiveness of ethanol extract of red spinach leaves formulated in gel
preparations to accelerate the healing of burns. The extract was obtained by maceration for
3x24 hours with 3x filtration then concentrated with rotary evaporator. Concentrated extracts
were prepared in gel preparations with concentrations of 5%, 10% and 15%. Furthermore, it
was applied to test animals suffering from burns type II. The observational data for 14 days
were analyzed by One Way Anova method and showed the red spinach of ethanol extract
that made in gel preparation had an activity to accelerate the healing of burns characterized
by the apparent difference between negative control and treatment group and effective at 15%
concentration.
