TEENAGERS

Joan and Bob are teenagers, or adolescents. Adolescence is not an easy phase in life, but
undoubtedly, one of the most important periods of development in a youngster.

Mr. and Mrs. Stevens consider themselves lucky because Joan and Bob don’t give them the
serious problems that many teenagers give to their parents during the transitional stage from
childhood to adulthood.

Bob and Joan believe that adolescence is a pleasant phase in life because each day can achieve
experience, make many friends, join clubs, and feels happy and carefree. They sometimes feel
anxious and uneasy, but they are able to fight it back because their home atmosphere is
peaceful, and their parents like to listen to their inquiries and soothe their anxiety.

Teenagers undergo marked physical changes during the period of teenage growth, which
extends from the thirteenth to the nineteenth year. This variation causes confusion and,
sometimes, emotional disturbance.

They inquire about social, moral and religious aspects that didn’t worry them before. They feel
anxious and look for logical explanations. Parents can help adolescents by encouraging their
searching; otherwise, they may frustrate them.

It’s important to point out that teens feel an increasing need for independence, self-identity,
love, and a sense of belonging. If adolescents don’t fulfill these needs at home, they may try to
find another source to cope with their anguish. They might join a group or form one of their
own. These groups – sometimes called gangs – usually develop their own code of behavior,
which may lead to delinquency.

School plays an important role in this transitional period because adolescents spend many
hours there, where they acquire the knowledge, interest, and attitudes that are necessary for
adult living.

Church is an aid in teenagers´ moral and religious development too. Parents, church, and
community should join their power and good will adolescents cope with this important stage
in human life.

ADOLESCENTES

Joan y Bob son adolescentes o adolescentes. La adolescencia no es una etapa fácil en la vida ,
pero , sin duda , uno de los períodos más importantes del desarrollo en un joven.

El señor y la señora Stevens se consideran afortunados porque Joan y Bob no les dan los
problemas graves que muchos adolescentes dan a sus padres durante la etapa de transición de
la niñez a la edad adulta.

Bob y Joan creen que la adolescencia es una etapa agradable en la vida , ya que cada día se
puede lograr la experiencia, hacer muchos amigos , unirse a los clubes , y se siente feliz y
despreocupado . A veces se sienten ansiosos e inquietos , pero son capaces de luchar de nuevo
, ya que su ambiente de casa es tranquila , ya sus padres les gusta escuchar sus preguntas y
calmar su ansiedad.

Los adolescentes experimentan cambios físicos marcados durante el período de crecimiento

en la adolescencia, que se extiende desde el siglo XIII hasta el año diecinueve . Esta variación
provoca confusión y , a veces , trastornos emocionales .

Ellos preguntan sobre los aspectos sociales, morales y religiosas que no se preocupan de ellos
antes. Se sienten ansiosos y buscan explicaciones lógicas . Los padres pueden ayudar a los
adolescentes mediante el fomento de su búsqueda ; de lo contrario , pueden frustrar .

Es importante señalar que los adolescentes sienten una creciente necesidad de independencia,
auto-identidad , el amor y el sentido de pertenencia . Si los adolescentes no cumplen con estas
necesidades en casa, ellos pueden tratar de encontrar otra fuente de hacer frente a su
angustia . Pueden unirse a un grupo o formar uno de los suyos . Estos grupos - a veces
llamados pandillas - por lo general desarrollan su propio código de conducta , que puede
conducir a la delincuencia.

Escuela juega un papel importante en este período de transición ya que los adolescentes pasan
muchas horas allí , donde adquieren los conocimientos , intereses y actitudes que son
necesarias para la vida adulta .

Iglesia es una ayuda en el desarrollo moral y religiosa de los adolescentes también. Los padres ,
la iglesia y la comunidad deben unirse a su poder y buenos adolescentes hará frente a esta
importante etapa de la vida humana.
