IV - PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing the Previous Percent Decimal Fraction/Ratio
Lesson
5%

1 7/10
15%
0.33
What is percent?
How did you write percent as decimal?
How did you write decimal as percent?
How did you write percent as fraction?
How did you write fraction as percent?
B. Establishing a purpose for the
lesson Inform the pupils for the lesson of the day.
C. Presenting examples/instances Problem 1
of the new lesson
A diet calls for 250g of carbohydrates per day. A banana
can provide 10% of the needed carbohydrates. How many
grams of carbohydrates can a banana provide?
Let the pupils answer the problem using bar model.
Guide the pupils in forming the bar model.

250
25 25 25 25 25 25 25 25 25
25

10%

250 ÷ 10 = 25
25 x 1 = 25
A banana can provide 25g of carbohydrates.

Instruct the pupils that there is another way to solve the

problem using the bar model.

Problem 2 What is 20% of 40 cookies?

? 8 40 cookies

0% 20% 100%

8 x 5 =40

? 40
=
20% 100

20 x 5 = 100

Another way in finding the percentage is by using the

formula.
Problem no. 1
P=bxr
P = 250 x .10 = 25
Problem no. 2
P=bxr
P = 40 x .20 = 8
Percentage - is a certain percent of the base.
Rate - is the number with a % sign.
Base - is the original number after the word "of".

In Problem no. 1
10% 0f 250 is 25
10% is the rate
250 is the base
25 is the percentage.

In problem no. 2
20% is the rate
40 is the base
8 is the percentage

D. Discussing new concepts and Translate the following question to a number sentence.
practicing new skill # 1 a) Find 75% of 80.
b) What percent of 75 is 15?
c) 22 is 40% of what number?
d) What number is 15% of 49?
e) 7% of 18 is what number?
f) 12 is what percent of 40?
E. Discussing new concepts and Answer the following:
practicing new skill # 2
1) Find 40% of 50.
2) What percent of 20 is 17?
3) 12 is 10% of what number?
4) What number of 20% is 50?
5) 50 is what percent of 200?
F. Developing Mastery (Leads to Solve the problems below.
Formative Assessment)
1) What percent of P50.00 is P5.00?
2) What number is 70% of 50%
3) 50 is 50% of what number?
4) 100 is what percent of 300?
5) Find 60% of 600.
G. Finding practical In an international conference, 300 people who attended
applications of
concepts and skills in daily living were Filipinos. If 30% of these were Filipino male
professionals, how many Filipino female professionals were
there?
H. Making generalizations and abstractions How do you define the percentage, rate and the base in a
about the lesson
given problem?
How did you find the percentage, rate and the base in a
given problem?
I. Evaluating Learning Identify the percentage (P), rate (R) and base (B) in each
number.
1) 10% of 90 is? P= R= B=
2) 50% of 200 is 100. P= R= B=
3) 75% of 60 is 45. P= R= B=
4) 12 is 20% of 60. P= R= B=
5) 18 is 12.5% of 144. P= R= B=
6) 90 is 50% of 180. P= R= B=
7) 30% of 180 is 54. P= R= B=
8) 60 is 33 1/3% of 180. P= R= B=
