Dialogue may have different interpretation in the world.
For some it is used
for more formal negotiation and for other it is employed as informal discussion-back-channel diplomacy. In addition, dialogue is also used to describe various types of initiatives aimed at promoting interaction between conflicting parties and includes process of peacebuilding. All of the key issues in the Middle East -- the Arab-Israeli conflict, Iraq, Iran, the need for region wide political and economic reforms, extremism, and terrorism -- are inextricably linked. Nothing short of a comprehensive strategy can solve the problems, marginalize the radicals, and promote the values and interests of the parties in the region. The war waged in Afghanistan and Iraq by USA has resulted in massive economic expenditure and is ineffective. The prime motive of waging war is to contain terrorism, however, if world leaders can muster up the political will to create peace and stability in any region it can only be done through dialogue. In the recent book “Dialogue and Conflict Resolution”, edited by Pernille Rieker, the role of dialogue in conflict is addressed. The best strategy of conflict resolution is dialogue and it has resulted in peace, stability and political strength. Dialogue in various forms can be used as a political instrument to conflict resolution. The conflict of different regional groups results in violence and use of force. The use of violence is last refuge of the incompetent and this situation of coercive actions arises from economic insecurity, failed public policies and marginalization. Major crises such as the Russo–Georgian war in 2008, the conflict between Western powers and Gaddafi’s Libya, arguments over Iran’s nuclear program, religious tensions in Egypt after the Arab Spring, the Afghan case, the Sudanese experience and the recent Russo–Ukraine conflict: all these have employed dialogue as a means of conflict resolution. Dialogue was the tool employed by the world leaders for a decade long battle that had been going on between Russia and Georgia. The Russian military troops were employed in Georgia as peace keepers and plan attacks in the region for their political motives. The terrorism was prevalent on both sides of the border because it had resulted in many civilian casualties. The two states resolved the conflict with the help of foreign powers in order to avoid the battle spiraling out of control. An agreement was reached between the two conflicting parties for ceasefire. The conflict between Libya and Western powers called for an immediate resolution and after consulting and bringing foreign powers on board an agreement was reached through dialogue and diplomacy. The most severely affected by terrorism are poor and downtrodden. The surge in migrants across Europe is an evidence for the grim situation of poor in any terror stricken part of the world. The nuclear program of Iran, which according to many was an act of terrorism came under the scrutiny of IAEC after a thorough process of negotiation. Different political groups and separatist actors have different demands for their political recognition and increased participation in public administration. The world has divided into different communities and societies with time. Every community has to fulfil the demands of their Today, the prevalent terrorist groups have several political motives. They cannot be defined in any geographical vicinity. Their acts are motivated by their ideologies. Thus, any use of force against them ineffective. In order to curb this evil there is a need of dialogue provided that the world leaders are willing to obliterate terrorism altogether. Pakistan is suffering from terrorism since the fall of twin towers on 9/11. The path chosen by Pakistan to wage war against a legitimate government in Afghanistan has resulted in increased radicalization in its restive provinces. The porous border has also supported the surge in terrorist activities. In order to eliminate the threat of terrorism in Pakistan, policy makers need to identify areas where an agreement can be reached. Similarly,
