Red onion plants have adaptability on the local ecological environment. Red
onion production in Palangka Raya in 2012 amounted to 2 tons with harvested
area of 1 ha, in 2013 rose to 56 tons with harvested area of 8 ha and in 2015 about
72 tons per year, while its demand reaches 1.778 tons, resulting in a supply
shortage of 1.706 tons per year. This research aims to : 1) Studying and looking at
the agroecological and morphological differences of onion plants in Kecamatan
Bukit Batu Kelurahan Kalampangan, Palangka Raya city and 2) Identify the
potential of land resources through the introduction of onion plant agroecological
characteristics in the city of Palangka Raya. The research will be conducted from
August 2017 to October 2017 located at Kecamatan Bukit Batu dan Kelurahan
Kalampangan, Palangka Raya city. The method used in this research is the
secondary data retrieval about the location of research, temperature, humidity, the
intensity of sunlight and rainfall obtained from Central Bureau of Statistics and
Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics Council. Then the data obtained is
entered into the software or program that has been determined which then
obtained the desired data. Furthermore, primary data collection on morphology
(plant height, number of leaves and tuber weight) in Kecamatan Bukit Batu dan
Kelurahan Kalampangan through direct interviews with farmers. Data analysis
was done descriptively.
