1.0 SCOPE
Arvandan Oil and Gas Company intends to construct an 8" N.B. buried
flowline from Sohrab WH1 to South Azadegan North Cluster.
Sohrab Field is located at North of Azadegan Field, and 115 Km North West of
Ahwaz right along the international border with Iraq.
The major sections of the project are:
- Wellhead facilities (at WH No.1).
- 8" N.B, 50 Km (Approx.) buried flow line.
- Receiving trap facility at South Azadegan North Cluster.
3.1 All electrical equipment, materials and installations shall be in accordance with the
applicable portions of the latest edition of the following standards, codes and
recommendations:

3.2 Metric SI system of units shall be applied to all dimensions and documentations.

4.1 The design of the electrical system shall be carried out in order to provide safety
to personnel and equipment during operation and maintenance, reliability of
service, easy maintenance, convenience of operation, interchangeability of
equipment, and adequate space for future extension and modification.
4.2 All major electrical equipment shall be centralized, as far as possible, and located
in safe areas to make maximum use of industrial type transformers, switchgears,
motor control centers and panel boards.
4.3 All switchgears, motor control centers and circuit breakers shall be selected to
meet the following short circuit levels:

4.4 In general, all supply feeders and transformers shall be designed and sized with
20% spare capacity to cater for future loads.
4.6 System protective devices (relays, fuses, breaker trip units, ... etc.) shall be
selected and coordinated to insure that the closest interrupter to the point of short
circuit (or high overload) shall open first and minimize disturbances on the rest of
the system.
5.1 Classification of areas and installations shall be in accordance with API-RP 500.
All electrical equipment and materials shall be suitable for the area classification
of the locations to be installed and shall comply with NEC standards or equivalent
IEC recommendations.
5.2 Transformers, switchgears and motor control centers shall be located in safe
areas.
5.3 The methods used in the electrical installation and the type of enclosures for all
equipment and materials shall confirm to the applicable requirements of the area
classification.

6.1 The plant main power supply shall be fed from two local diesel driven synchronous
generators(1+1 configuration).The capacity of each generator shall meet the
power demand requirements for 100% plant load in normal conditions at full load
operation plus a 20% margin for unforeseen loads and 20% spare for future
expansion.
6.2 Each generator shall be capable to fully automatically start when other generator
going out of service due to reduce of inerruption on loads feeding.
6.3 The control system of generators shall be capable to automatic load shedding
and/or transfer as well as restart/reacceleration, if required.
6.4 The control system of generators shall be change the inservice generator with
other generator after about 750 hours continuous loading.
6.5 The control system of generators shall be capable to send all alarm and
control/protection signals to main control system which located in south cluster of
north Azadegan field via one fiber optic chanel(common with instrument and
control system fiber optic , if possible).
6.6 The diesel driven generators shall be capable operated continuous duty.

9.2 Circuit breakers used as main or bus-tie breakers shall be air circuit breaker type
(A.C.B).
9.3 Starters for three phase LV motors shall be the combination type consisting of a
molded case circuit breaker or HRC fuses and a magnetic contactor.
9.4 Each starter shall have three phase ambient compensated thermal overload
protection and solid state single phasing protection.
9.5 Starters used for motors rated 4 kW and above shall be provided with an ammeter
on the starter front panel. They shall also be provided with a current transformer
for a remote mounted ammeter. (The secondary current of this transformer shall
be 1A.)
9.6 Starters for motors rated 18.5 kW and above (for zone 2 & safe areas) and 4 kW
and above (for zone 1 areas) shall have an earth leakage protection.
9.7 Feeder circuits for heaters shall be similar to motor feeders except that no
protection relays will be necessary.

9.8 Feeder circuits for lighting panel boards and distribution boards rated 400 A and
below will be of MCCB or HRC fuse type switch. For circuits rated above 400 A,
air circuit breakers shall be utilized.
9.9 Each MCC shall be provided with 20% spare units, fully equipped, for different
sizes of motor starters and 10% space units with empty cubicles.
10.1 Three phase electric motors shall generally be squirrel cage induction type, totally
enclosed fan cooled (TEFC).
10.3 In general, the method of starting for all motors shall be direct-on-line (D.O.L)
starting at full voltage.
11.0 LIGHTING
11.1 Lighting circuits shall generally be 230 V, single phase, 50 Hertz supplied from
either 400/230 V three phase or 230 V single phase grounded neutral system.
Branch circuit protection shall be provided by miniature circuit breakers (MCB’s).
The incoming feeder of lighting panels shall be equipped with earth leakage
protection.
11.2 The total estimated load of each circuit shall not exceed 80% of the branch circuit
rating.
11.3 Lighting methods and materials shall be suitable for the area classification in
which they are to be installed.
11.4 Approximately 10-30% of the lighting fittings in control and substation buildings,
compressor and utility shelters, under pipe racks, plant area perimeter fence
security lighting and inside Buildings shall be supplied from the emergency
generation, but for control room it should be 50%. In addition, self contained
battery pack units shall be provided for control room, substation, and exit /
entrance ways.
11.5 Levels of illumination for the design of lighting systems shall be based on IPS-E-
EL-100, table G1- iIluminance currently recommended for the petroleum, chemical
and petrochemical industry.

12.1 Socket outlets and their associated plugs, operating at different voltage levels,
shall not be interchangeable.
12.2.1 Socket outlets for indoor, industrial areas shall be 3 wires, single phase, 2P+E, 16
A, interlocked, industrial type. For outdoor areas shall be as above but with
enclosure degree of protection IP 56.
12.2.2 230 V socket outlets shall be installed in electrical switchgear room for testing
purposes.
12.2.3 Socket outlets in office buildings shall be 3 wire, 2 pole with ground contacts. The
ground contacts shall be solidly and permanently connected to the grounding
system through a separate ground wire.
12.2.4 For office buildings, a minimum of three socket outlets shall be installed in each
room. Not more than 8 socket outlets shall be supplied by one circuit.
12.3.1 Socket outlets for welding purposes shall be 4 wire, 4P+E, 3 phase, 63 A,
industrial type. For outdoor areas it shall be as above but with enclosure degree of
protection IP 56.
12.3.2 One 400 V, 4 wire, 4P+E, 3 phase, 63 A socket outlet shall be installed near each
group of transformers, for oil treatment purposes.
13.1 A earthing loop system with radial taps to equipment shall be installed at each
plant to ensure safety to personnel and to equipment in case of electrical
equipment failures, and provide a path to ground for lightning and static electricity.
13.2 The earthing system shall be in accordance with IEC-364 part 3, TN-S system
and shall consist of main earthing conductors connected in ring formation via
earthing busbars with all earthing conductors being taped from the earthing
busbars. The earthing busbars shall be located above the ground and in suitable
locations and shall be connected to the station earthing network at both ends.

13.3 A lightning protection system shall be designed at each plant for substation and,
control building, and where required to discharge lightning stress to ground and to
protect personnel life in accordance with BS 6651 or NFPA 780.
13.4 The resistance of the electrical earthing system shall not exceed 1 ohm, and for
the instrument earthing system shall not exceed 0.5 ohm.
- Cable armoring
13.6 Tanks and process vessels containing flammable liquid shall be grounded at
several points (at least two per equipment).
13.8 A separate earthing system shall be provided solely for the electronic
instrumentation boards and computers and shall be isolated from the electrical
earthing system. The resistance of the electronic instrument earthing system shall
not exceed 0.5 ohm.

15.0 CABLES
MV cables
Stranded copper conductor, XLPE insulated, shielded, lead alloy covering (in site
Area), single galvanized steel wire armored and aluminum wire Armored if single
core cables are used and aluminum wire armored if single core cables are used
and PVC sheathed.
15.3 Cables shall be sized in accordance with the relevant IEC recommendations and
considering the following:
- Full load current in general, all feeder cables shall be sized to carry 125% of
the full load current of their circuits continuously, also to cater for short time
overloading.
- Rating factors (where applicable) for ground temperature, ambient air
temperature, variation in thermal resistivity of soil, depth of laying and grouping
factor.
- Short circuit
- Voltage drop
- Effect of sun radiation (cables should not be exposed to sun)
15.4 All of MV and LV cables shall be fire retardant type also emergency system (ESD,
F&G) cables shall be fire resistance type.
Cables in control room shall be LSOH (LOW SMOKE ZERO HALOGEN) type.

15.5 All of the cables in site area shall be buried in ground. They can be above ground
near junction boxes. Cables between junction boxes, lighting panels, lighting
equipments and socket outlets can be above ground.
MV cables: 50 Sq.mm
LV power and control cables: 2.5 Sq.mm
Power supply cables for motors: 4 Sq.mm
Lighting and small power wires and cables: 2.5 Sq.mm
Control cables inside of panels: 1.5 or 2.5 Sq.mm as per manufacturer's standard.
