Today everybody needs the internet but in the past there wasn’t any internet at, all people
entertained themselves by reading books play outside or listen to the radio they also watched tv but
there weren’t many channels and programmes to watch. They didn’t spend time behind the
computer because they weren’t available or very expensive. Most people read every day. The
generation of grandparents had even less access to tv because it was really really expensive.

Every household had an different favorite program on tv and people their favourites weren’t the
same.

In the generation of the grandparents the positive aspects of mass media was the fact that you could
know what was happening in the world. The negative aspects of mass media were that it was very
slow when something happened on Monday you heard it much later.

Nowadays things have changed internet is almost always available. people watch way more tv, have
social media, mobile phones, laptops, tablets etc. but we stil have newspapers books and radio.

Reading isn’t very popular however some kids really like to read and there are wel equipped libraries.
Tv and computers are much cheaper these days because there used everywhere even in schools.

Mass media is very fast and makes it possible to speak with people across the world but Social media
does have negative affects on people sometimes also it easier to do illegal or criminal things because
of the internet.

Mass media is cheaper, faster, people use it a lot more. People look at their screens a lot and some
people even get addicted, especially teenagers.

Main question:

Since the generation of our grandparents there has changed a lot. Now we have for example mobile
phones, tablets and computers. They didn’t have anything like that. We also use a lot more of mass
media. Actually, we use it every day. At school or work, and at home. In the past they only used it to
get information, but now we also use it for entertainment and communication. It has also gotten a
lot cheaper. While in the past everything was really expensive, now everyone has got lots of
technology. But there is also a negative side of it, you got less privacy, and kids play less outside.

Conclusion:

The role of mass media in our lives has changed a lot. We use more of it, more often and we can do
more with it. When in the past it was very special, nowadays it’s an everyday thing. This change has
both positive and negative aspects. We can do more on the internet, but kids play less outside, and
you will have to look after your privacy.
