Important Step
The board and display must be connected together and communicating. And both the
board and the display should have version 2 software at this point. The unit code has
been checked and the unit could be back in operating mode.
Configuration Save on the circuit board Must have been performed. If not do so.
If this step has not been performed this entire section will fail.
1. A single XML files needs to be downloaded. These files contain the present v.2 unit setups
in version v.2 format.
22

6. Find the Folder that has the same IP Address as the unit being worked
on. (Example) Device 192.168.254.1
7. Find the file “configsave.xml”. Note that there maybe two configsave
files, make sure you locate the one with the xml extension or xml type.

The computer will need to have an Ethernet and Serial port connection.
1. Push and hold the FAN OFF button on the cooling module for 5 seconds.
a. If both red and green LEDs turn on solid, the software will communicate.
b. If both red and green LEDs do not turn on solid the XDIO board needs
updated.
2. Check the software version on the XD unit iCOM control board. It must be version
XDP1.00.007.STD or higher. If unit iCOM software is not correct, upgrade the unit
unit software first.
3. Sensor “B” must be re-connected to the last XDIO board in the group to be updated.
4. Re-connect the can cable to the first XDIO board in the group to be updated.
5. Verify that both senor “A and B” temperature values are visible on the display.
41
PCT401 iCOM – iST Service Tool and XDIO Smart Board Programming Lab Manual
Original firmware version XDIOv1.00.003 will not communicate to iCOM. Other later
versions will communicate with iCOM, but updating during startup, it is considered
easier to use the XDIO updater to upgrade. After complete communication has been
established using ExtrapuTTY is the preferred method.
42
PCT401 iCOM – iST Service Tool and XDIO Smart Board Programming Lab Manual
2. Connect a serial cable between your PC’s COM1 port and the XDIO board serial
port.
3. Double click on the file “XDIOUpdater.exe” and follow the prompts until the
application has completed the upgrade. Note that you will need to respond to
various prompts throughout the procedure. Shown below are the expected dialogs
using the XDIO updater application.
43

8. Once XDIOv3.04.001 is loaded to the board, it will ask to program the serial number,
click Yes.
9. If the serial number is successfully written to the XDIO board, a confirmation is given.
Click OK.
At this point, the board is fully upgraded and any future upgrades may be performed
through the CAN bus communications using service tool.

Command Description
almlist Display all the alarms that are currently active.
binf Display the build information for the code image, including version number and
checksums.
canr Show current CAN node id and Identity Object serial number.
canw nid Set the EEPROM CAN node ID to <value>, where <value> is interpreted as a decimal
<value> number. The allowable range of <value> is 80 – 105. Note that this node ID will not be
used by the board until it is rebooted.
cool Show calculated cooling capacity in kW and percent of maximum.
fan For each of the four possible fans, display the last sampled value of the fan current
(converted to amperage) and the state of the fan. The state can be one of the following:
1) Not Supported – Indicates that a physical fan is not expected to be connected.
Setting of the model number determines if a fan is supported.
2) Disabled – Fan is not turned on.
3) Enabled, no TC – Fan is turned on, and is not subject to temperature control.
4) Enabled, TC – Fan is turned on, and is subject to temperature control.
5) Enabled, TC shutdown – Fan is turned on, but has been shut down due to
temperature control.
menu Display a list of all public commands (all commands in this table).
modr Show the current value of the configuration model number. The configuration model
number should match that of the connected XD system for proper operation.
Modw Set the configuration model number of connected XD system. After setting the model
number, the board will automatically reboot.
NOTE: The model number must be manually set; it is not read from the connected XD
system.
mux Display the last sampled values of the mux inputs:
Input 0: Group 1, fan 1 current
Input 1: Group 1, fan 2 current
Input 2: Group 2, fan 1 current
Input 3: Group 2, fan 2 current
Input 4: Power source 1 voltage
Input 5: Power source 2 voltage
Two values are shown for each input: (1) the actual sample value read, and (2) the
sample value recomputed to take into account error compensation, which is only
applicable to fan current values.
reboot Reboot the board.
schlist List all tasks in the task scheduler. The information given is task name, task ID (TID),
the originally requested time to run (RT), and the remaining time until task is run (TTR).
temp Display the last sampled values of the four temperature sensors, converted to degrees
Fahrenheit. If the sensor is disconnected or shorted, it will display this information
instead of a temperature reading.

To perform a field-installation:
1. Find the Liebert IntelliSlot bay on your Liebert equipment—It may have a
plastic cover.
NOTE: The card will only fit one way in the Liebert IntelliSlot bay because the circuit
board is not centered on the faceplate. The slot in the Liebert IntelliSlot bay also is
not centered.
For a direct connection from a computer to the card, we need to know how the customer
has set up the card. However if you are installing a new card or servicing an existing
card it is recommended to reset the cards Ethernet communication parameter to factory
defaults to make connection consistent with these instruction. If not reset, these
instructions may not work. To reset card use a small device like a paper clip and double
push in on the reset switch. See picture for location.

U2U Address
It is critical that the iCOM network designer understand the importance and implications
of the U2U address. In Teamwork Mode 1 the U2U address will be used to stage units
on. During Standby – Lead / Lag operation resting units will follow U2U address. It is
recommended that U2U addresses jump around room so operating and resting units
are not all in the same area and cooling is distributed evenly.
The U2U addresses of each control board must be in sequential order, starting with 1,
2, 3, 4 and so on within each group. The U2U addresses of large display must also be
in sequential order starting with 33, 34, 35 and so on within each group.
Teamwork
The units with iCOM control offers four (4) different methods of operating together to
maintain room environmental control. Each group will operate independent of other
groups. Each separate group may have the same or different teamwork setups.
IP Address
An individual IP address must be assigned to each unit control board and large display
connected to the network. It works like a phone number in a telephone. Computers
and microprocessors use IP addresses to manage communication between devices.
The IP address is made up of 4 groups of 3 digit numbers. (XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX) The
first 3 groups should be the same while the last segment must be different. Example all
IP address should start with 192.168.254._ _ _. The last segment can be any number
between 001 and 253.

Planning a Network
When preparing to network units, one should always make a plan. The plan should be
a drawing on the room with locations of cooling units and rack layout. Then answer
these questions in order.
Groups, is it best to leave all units in one big group or divide into multiple groups?
o Add this to plan.
How should the unit boards be numbered (U2U Address)? Remember, number
must be in order, 1,2,3,4,… This will be used to standby mode and start-up on
power failure.
o Add this to plan.
How should the displays be numbered (U2U Address)? The displays should be
in sequence, 33,34,35,36,…
o Add this to plan.
Assign the IP addresses to the unit boards and displays. Easiest way is to match
the last segment of the IP to the U2U address. Example: A U2U address of 23,
then the IP address would be 192.168.254.023.
o Add this to plan.
Copies of the plan should be left with customer and placed inside equipment, for
future use.
