Dear Mr. Haukeness,

I am writing this letter to express my interest in completing student teaching at Kemper Elementary
School. In order to graduate and obtain my teaching license through the state of Colorado, I must
student teach for one semester. I wish to gain this experience at your school.

I have had practicum experiences in multiple Durango elementary schools and one school in Bayfield,
Colorado. I have also had experiences teaching students of different ages outside of the classroom
environment. What makes me a unique applicant is that I have grown up in Cortez, Colorado and am
familiar with the area, so I know how I can make lessons relevant to the area around the students. I have
had the opportunity to do some observation at Kemper Elementary and was very impressed by what the
students were working on. I also have family that have worked and currently work in the school system,
and I can use them as resources as well as the teachers I am working with.

In my experience as a student teacher, I want to learn how to design, plan, and complete meaningful
lessons and projects. I wish to learn how to differentiate my lessons to meet the needs of all my
students in my classroom. I also wish to design and teach lessons that are relevant to students beyond
just the classroom. I would love to discuss a future student teaching placement at Kemper Elementary
