OFFICE OF THE EPPREY . MaRS PROSECUTING ATTORNEY uDITH WENGER BROWN ROSS COUNTY, OHIO iisatant Prosecutor ROBERT C. HESS MATTHEW S. SCHMIDT Prosecuting Attorney CoMNTHIA G, SCHUMER ‘ropp J. post JENWA E. BEARROW January 18, 2018 RE: — Response to Press Release Issued by Jeffrey R. Fisher Case No. 17 CR 431 ‘As I stated after an indictment was issued in this case, I am not interested in trying this case in the court of public opinion, This case is not about how popular the defendant was as a principal, or about the accolades he received in his professional career. Jeffrey Fisher, like every other person charged with a criminal offense, is entitled to due process, and to have the evidence against him presented to an unbiased jury. Likewise, the women who have come forward with allegations against him will be given the opportunity to have their voices heard—and should not be subjected to victim shaming. Unlike Mr. Fisher's legal counsel, the State declines to make self-serving assertions about the evidence in the case, and will refrain from making public statements that might influence the impartiality of potential jurors in advance of trial.
