We have a hard time trying to explain and help the men in our “NewLife” discipleship Program to
understand that the same Jesus that saved them is the one that was born in a manger over 2000 years
ago and was the one that became the Redeemer. And, that they were saved from their sin by accepting
Him, this Babe of the manger, as their Savior and then making Him the Lord of their life.

Praise God He Is The Same jesus!

John 1:1-2 tells us, “In the beginning was the Word. and the Word was with God and the
Word, was God. The Same was in the beginning with God.” In John 1:14 we read, “And

The following opportunities are available for
YOU to help YOUR Rescue Mission again to serve
Christmas Dinner.
Our Volunteer Coordinator, Jeanne Lutz—Phone 278-
9679, needs volunteers of individuals and families
that can make the following commitments of time on
Thursday December 24th, 2009.
Team 1 – Prepare food and decorate facility for
the Christmas meal—to be served on Thursday,
December 24th (Not Friday, Christmas Day). Need
a commitment of 4 consecutive hours beginning in the
morning.
Team 2 – Serve the refreshments, meal, dessert and
clean up facility at the close – Thursday December 24th
(Not Friday, Christmas Day). Need a commitment of
5 consecutive hours beginning in the afternoon.
Both teams require children
to be a minimum of 8 years of age.
Jeanne will do the scheduling of the teams. You
may reach her at her home telephone after 6 P.M. and
weekends or leave an evening number and speak
slowly.
She will give you specific details about team assignments
and schedule your time to work.

An Opportunity For You To Serve!
THANKS
I am so thankful for faithful friends and supporters
of this ministry who make it possible for us to do the
things we do. I wish I had the words to express my
heart felt appreciation to each and every one of you.
Sometimes we get a little down and anxious over things
that happen or things that are needed, but God will
touch your heart and you respond. Then, the need is
met or we have the resources to attend to the problem
or need. All because YOU have been faithful. There is
no way that we could provide shelter or prepare many
meals each day plus all of the other services we provide
without your help.
We have seen many come to know Jesus as
their Lord and Savior this year. Also, we have seen
families reunited. Numerous lives have been changed.
Seven men have graduated the two year “NewLife”
Discipleship Program. A lot of positive things have
happened this year in the lives of people and it is
because folks like you that really care.
People are homeless for many different reasons, but
what ever the reason Jesus Christ is the answer to their
problem. This is the reason for our being and our being
is made possible by you.
I would sure like to meet each one of you and
thank you personally for your support to this ministry.
But please remember the most important thing you can
do for us is to PRAY for us, that the things that are
accomplished here at the Mission will bring glory and
honor to our Lord, Jesus Christ.

 Opening God’s
As most of you may know by now our November
Newsletter was lost in the mailing process. On the
surface this is a major setback because this was to
be the newsletter we used to solicit help with our
Thanksgiving meal. This help included the harvesting of
the food as well as determining how many volunteers
we were expecting so they could be organized into the
various teams required to provide the holiday meal for
our homeless population. Bad right? Maybe, maybe
not. I don't believe anything happens without a reason
because scripture points me in that direction.
And we know that all things work together for good
to those who love God, to those who are the called
according to His purpose.
Romans 8:28 (NKJV)
I feel compelled to confess I'm really bad at figuring
out what the reasons are for the things that happen
around me. I also find it interesting that I only look for
reasons when the things that have happened seem
bad. When something good happens I thank the Lord
and keep on moving through life not realizing there is
a purpose in that as well.
So what was the purpose for the November newsletter
being lost? Wait! As usual I'm asking the wrong
question. What I should be asking is; what good has
come out of the November newsletter being lost?
The quick answer is God gave me an early Christmas
present.
Some of my fondest childhood memories are
associated with Christmas. Of course for me Christmas
usually meant lots and lots of toys. Although I admit
the toys were nice I must also admit I don't remember
many specifics surrounding the toys I received. Of
course there were the classics such as BB guns and
GI Joe’s however none stand out when I reflect back
on my childhood. What I do remember is the

excitement of the wait. The build up to Christmas was
excruciating for a young child. Now that I'm an adult
I understand how excruciating it must have been for
my mother to have to tell us kids we couldn't open a
present, every hour on the hour, for a whole month.
My spiritual journey is much the same. Although
I've been through more spiritual crises than I care to
admit I must say I don't remember many specifics. I
don't remember the struggles involved or the "world
is coming to an end" mentality those crises
caused. I do however remember
my excitement at the realization
the Lord has blessed me in more
ways than I can fathom.
Among these blessing
there is no way to
chronologically align
the most precious
to the least precious
because precious is
a state of being not a
degree of reckoning. God
has deemed me precious
despite me and I am
thankful.
This brings me back to the missing
newsletters and I can unequivocally say the best
thing to come out of it for me has been I did not
worry about whether or not the Mission would be able
to produce a Thanksgiving meal for those who really
needed to know they are loved. “God gifted me with
an opportunity to trust him.”
And those who know Your name will put their trust in
You; For You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek
You.
Psalms 9:10 (NKJV)
If you're wondering the Thanksgiving meal was
’s Gift Early
harvested, prepared, and served with great love and
was received by all with gratitude. It's rewarding to
know those who have no family or have no place to
go were able to experience a home-style Thanksgiving
dinner.
Another one of my childhood memories surrounding
Christmas was the idea some big guy in a red suite
would slave away all year long to make me toys. I
didn’t grow up in a religious home therefore
I wasn’t aware there might be a conflict
between Santa and Christ. The truth
is I didn’t know that much about
Jesus. I do remember hearing
from someone Santa was
supposed to be a saint
but I took that as a given
based on his unselfish
devotion to make and
deliver toy’s to me and my
siblings. The fact I received
anything at all meant
my year-end total of
nice had somehow
surpassed my year-end
total of naughty and I was
not at all interested in a
recount. All I knew was I
had a clean slate to prepare
for next Christmas.
It wasn’t until later in life I came to realize Mama
was the saint who, day in and day out, made all the
sacrifices. I don’t miss Santa but I do miss Mama. Even
more time would pass before I realized my clean slate
was the results of another’s sacrifice not my feeble
attempts at, out doing naughty with nice. This all
changed after reading:

And this is the testimony: that God has given us
eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has
the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God
does not have life. 13 These things I have written to you
who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you
may know that you have eternal life, and that you may
continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.
1 John 5:11-13 (NKJV)
I knew in my heart naughty or nice had nothing to do
with my clean slate. It was about a sacrifice bigger than
a mother’s love for her children. Christmas is about a
father’s love for his creation. A love so strong he was
willing to do something even my unselfish mother
would have never entertained and that’s sacrificing
his only son. It all began on that faithful night talked
about in Luke:

Now there were in the same country shepherds living
out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by
night. 9 And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before
them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them,
and they were greatly afraid. 10 Then the angel said to
them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good
tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 For
there is born to you this day in the city of David a
Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be the
sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling
clothes, lying in a manger.”

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude
of the heavenly host praising God and saying:

And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”

Thank you Lord for this precious gift after all it is the
reason for the season.
