INTRODUCTION

The Campus Troubadours began in the Fall semester of

2017 as a collaboration between the Tracy Farmer
Institute for Sustainability and the Environment and the
UK College of Fine Arts, specifically in partnership with
the UK Classical Guitar Program, out of an interest in
social sustainability. This project aims to provide
aesthetically pleasing, tranquil, and culturally enriching
experiences in an aim to counteract stress inducing
noise pollution.
This initiative began on October 15th, 2017, with weekly
performances by six student members of the UK
Classical Guitar Program.
These students performed in public, high traffic areas
(Bowman’s Den, Willy T Starbucks, The 90, etc.) on
campus during peak hours. The Campus Troubadours
have also been requested to perform at a variety of
campus events.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Campus Troubadours project brings live music to

campus in an effort to create a more positive and
welcoming campus environment, thereby facilitating a
higher amount of campus activity as well as a more
culturally enriched learning and living atmosphere.
The Classical Guitar is particularly useful because of its
diverse repertoire, and its suitability in the performance
of not only classical music, but also music from many
different folk traditions.
GENERAL FINANCIALS

Six students of the UK Classical Guitar Program - one

Undergraduate and five Graduates. All six students will
grow in performance skills suitable to their field of study
(Classical Guitar Performance). Each student will
perform three hours per week in public spaces on
campus for a diverse range of listeners, which allows the
participants to grow in their abilities on their instruments,
but also in their skills in presentation and outreach
through performing for audiences that may not have had
prior exposure to classical music from diverse parts of
the world.

The Campus Troubadours project was originally funded by

the Tracy Farmer Institute for Sustainability that
contributed $1452.44 in start-up costs for equipment and
$8860.00 in total salary. It should be mentioned that the
equipment for performance would still be used in the
proposed project, meaning that it would not require
replacement.
