Solid Waste Services SharePoint Training: 101

I. Scope of Training

The SharePoint Training: 101 program will provoke changes to processes that have been

utilized for many years by the Solid Waste Services Department. Upon completion of the

development of the department’s SharePoint site, 65 employees of the department will be

trained on the purpose and the use of the site.

II. Goals

Prior to implementation of the training program, the department’s IT division will develop a

SharePoint site for use of file and data sharing. The SharePoint Training: 101 is intended to

relieve the frustration employees have been experiencing due to inadequate file sharing and

delayed target reporting. In this training program, employees will be introduced to the

SharePoint application and taught efficiencies for creating, checking out, and editing shared

files that can be easily accessed and utilized within the department. These new processes will

enable the department to keep documents “live” as long as they need to be editable.

III. Objectives

• Audience: 65 employees of the Solid Waste Services Departments – administrative

staff and managerial staff.

• Behavior: The expected behavior is that program participants will discontinue the use

of shared files that are not housed within the SharePoint application. Employees will

begin file sharing through SharePoint to allow more cohesive collaboration and

documentation.
• Conditions: Participants will have the opportunity to edit mock files in the created

training environment. Beyond training, employees will implement the new process on

a daily basis as a new normal.

• Degree: The standard for acceptable performance is use of the application.

Employees’ ability to adapt to the new process will be rated as a measurable target on

their annual performance review.

IV. Anticipated Impact

The SharePoint Training: 101 is expected to eliminate double work and provide departmental

updates at a glance. While we anticipate that employees will utilize the application for

current files that are being shared, we have an even greater anticipation that employees will

create more opportunities for collaboration on projects through the use of this new file

sharing process. As the training program is rolled out to employees, we expect employees to

glean knowledge from each other thereby promoting individual development as well as

strengthening the core of the organization.
