i. Fix M16 thread rod piece in to the M16 anchor bar to connecting to the correct size threaded rod connector to fit the
anchor to be tested.
ii. Position the cylinder over the rod adapter and using the nut and washer tighten the cylinder down until it is finger
tight. Note: you do not need a spanner to tighten the nut!
iii. Connect the hand pump to the pressure gauge and gauge block using the quick release connectors. Be careful not
to allow the pressure gauge to drop to the floor as impacts could cause damage to the gauge. The gauge on the
gauge block is on a swivel connector that allows you to rotate the gauge in whatever direction you want. Only on
pressurising the system will the gauge stand upright and hold itself in position.
iv. Assemble the pressure hose to the gauge block using the quick release connectors.
v. Connect the pressure hose to the cylinder.
vi. Ensure the pressure release valve at the front of the hand pump is CLOSED!
vii. Check the gauge has the High Load Indicator needle reset to zero.
viii. Using the handle on the pump, pump the hydraulic fluid into the cylinder.
ix. Monitor the load applied on the gauge
x. When the required load has been applied, release the pressure by OPENING the pressure release valve at the
front of the hand pump.
xi. Disassemble the equipment in reverse order of above.

Project Director,
Monaragala- Buththala intergrated water supply project
National Water Supply and Drainage Board

Dear Sir,

Installation of 16 mm Threaded bar by using HILTI HIT RE-500 on the Concrete side
wall.

With reference to our recent site testing at the above project we have pleasure in
enclosing our report of the results obtained from said testing.

The client's attention is drawn to the fact that the results of the testing are accurate for
the specific locations described therein. The results of the testing therefore only
provide a guide as to the performance of the anchor system as a whole.

We hope that this information is to your satisfaction, but should you require further
technical data on this or any of our other fixing systems, please contact our Technical
Advisory Service or myself immediately.

Assuring you of our best attention at all times.

Yours faithfully,

Caution: In view of the high loads transferable with the HIT-RE 500, it must be verified by the user that the load
acting on the concrete structure, including the loads introduced by the anchor fastening, do not cause failure,
e.g. cracking, of the concrete structure.

HIT-RE 500 injection adhesive with HAS rod
fTemp: Influence of base material temperature

Anchor setting: The Hilti HIT-RE 500 bond strength reduces when the anchor is set, cures and in service in a
base material temperature range from –5 to +5°C. Hilti HIT-RE 500 adhesive shows a post curing effect. When
the adhesive warms up to above +5°C, the bond will reach its full performance.

Service life: Base material temperatures above 50°C will lead to a decrease in Hilti HIT-RE 500 bond strength.

50°C - 1.0
60 °C - 0.85
70 °C - 0.62
80 °C - 0.5

Note:
In case of an anchor fastening, which is made in base material at a temperature below +5°C and in service at a
temperature over 50°C, only one influencing factor of the lower value should be applied.

fW.sat: Influence of water saturated concrete

f W.sat = 0.7

Note:
The reduction shall only be applied, if the anchor is setted into water-saturated concrete, e.g. concrete members
in water, filled water tanks, predrilled holes filled with water for more than 3 days. The reduction does not apply,
if the concrete is subjected to short term water influence, e.g. diamond-cored holes.

Caution: In view of the high loads transferable with HIT-RE 500, it must be verified by the user that the load
acting on the concrete structure, including the loads introduced by the anchor fastening, do not
cause failure, e.g. cracking, of the concrete structure.

fTemp: Influence of base material temperature

Anchor setting: The Hilti HIT-RE 500 bond strength reduces when the anchor is set, cures and in service in a
base material temperature range from –5 to +5°C. Hilti HIT-RE 500 adhesive shows a post curing effect. When
the adhesive warms up to above +5°C, the bond will reach its full performance.

Service life: Base material temperatures above 50°C will lead to a decrease in Hilti HIT-RE 500 bond strength.

5°C 1.0 1.0
