My Most Impactful Teacher

“A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and install a love of learning.”

Brad Henry once said and that's exactly what my most impactful teacher off all time did for me

Farrah Rigo-Witt my high school ASB teacher.

Mrs. Rigo-Witt is my most impactful teacher for many reasons. She is not only a person I look

up to but she is person who understand me and what goes on in my mind and that is something

not many people do. She really pushed me to step out of my comfort zone as a student leader and

because of her doing that I have accomplished so many things in my life. One being becoming

one of California's top 50 student leaders. But the one thing she has always encouraged me to do

what i want to do and advocate because i have the voice to do it that others don't. I take that into

what i do with my everyday life. She taught me to use my personality to my full advantage.

There have been many low and high times that she has always been there for. There was a period

of time that i was going through alot at home and was very overwhelmed with school i hit a

rough patch of my presidency where i had to make big decisions that could affect some students

and at home I was having issues with my parents picking the right college so i had a break down

and i just ran into her office sat on the floor and talked everything out with her for a good two to

three hours and when all was done i stood up gave her a giant hug and went on with my day. But

in that moment i realized something more beyond the fact i realized she knew exactly how to

nurture me not by yelling or letting me tell her about everything but by reminding me how great

of a student i am i will never forget that. She has always been there for me every big life moment

and when ever i need advice a laugh or someone to talk to i know i can always call her.

Inside of the class room she was an amazing teacher because she always let us the students run

the school the way we believe we want it to be ran. That is one of the biggest gambel's she has

ever taken in her life but it works. One thing i really wanted to initiate on campus was everyone

is a person with a purpose and what i mean by that is everyone should have a reason to come to

school thats not education and everyone should be known by a name and not feel like a number.

When i told her that was my mission she was a little nervous because no president before me had

a goal that big. And this is where her lesson on advocacy comes in i took action. First step

teachers what she help me create was a new greeting system where all teachers would stand by

their doors and greet each individual as they came into the room. And take 5 mins of class time

to socialize with their students. The second phase was the students we initiated that each student

wore a name badge to strike up conversations amongst one another and promote and encourage

them to join clubs. And in the end it all worked out her teaching method of do what works right

for the students is something i will always take away.

The one thing i will truly take away from her is to always use my voice because the voice i have

is something that others wish they had the courage to have. And to always stand up for what is

right. But the real thing i take away is do it with love love and appreciate every single day

because everyday is a new day to learn in so many ways. We can have everything in the world

taken away from us but the two things they cannot take away is love and education.

If i were to become a teacher i would want to be just like Mrs. Rigo Witt because i want students

to know that they always had a friend she was one of my four quarters instead of being one of

my 100 pennies and what i mean by that was she was a good friend instead of being a person

who came in and out of my life with right timing. If i picked up the phone at 3am and i needed

someone to hear me out i know for sure she would pick up the phone and listen to me. I will

always want to be there for my student. I would let them figure out things on their own but give

them the guidance that they need.

In the end a teacher must always love their job and students but most importantly be willing to be

there to support their students in all aspects of their lives the ups and downs and all arounds the

best teachers are the ones are the ones who makes learning interactive Mrs Rigo Witt made sure

that we never duplicated a year in ASB she made sure that we all had an exciting outlook on how

we are going to make the year fun and exciting. Which reminds me to always have fun and have

a positive outlook on my students and how they want to learn to make sure how they want to be

educated be implied.
