TRANSPORTATION IN IZMIR

There is a subway line (İzmir Metro) running from Fahrettin Altay to Bornova and there is a
modern train line (İZBAN) which runs from southwest to northeast. Since İzmir Gulf is narrow,
ferry is another popular choice. İzmir Tram runs near the seaside of the Gulf, which gives you the
opportunity to watch the opposite side of İzmir and enjoy great sea view. Besides, bus rides are
very frequent, and it is also a good alternative for people who live in İzmir.

· Subway runs from 06:00 until 00:20 every day every 5 to 10 minutes throughout the day.
Subway travels between F. Altay and Evka-3

· Train runs from 05:30 until 00:20 every day and it travels between Aliağa and Tepeköy
There are connection points shown in the map where you can transfer. (Hilal and Halkapınar are
the only stations where subway and train lines cross!)

Here is the timetable for train rides;

http://www.izban.com.tr/sayfalar/SeferSaatleri.aspx?MenuId=22

(Unfortunately, there isn’t an English version for the website but it’s simple;

Hareket Durağı :You choose the name of the station you are at
Varış Durağı : You choose the station you wish to go

and you see a timetable which refers to;

Hareket Saati : The time when train is supposed to be on that station.

Varış Saati : The time when the train is supposed to arrive to designated station.)

· There are bus trips from 06:00 until 00:20 every day.
Important Notices about Transportation

(We strongly suggest you to read all the vital notes we provide under this topic)

1. We will refer to this map as “Offline Map” in some cases, and suggest you to download it to
your smartphones from the link below in order to use it when you are offline;

http://www.eshot.gov.tr/CKYuklenen/izmir_ulasim_haritalari/%-
C4%B0zmir%20Toplu%20Ula%C5%9F%C4%B1m%20Haritas%C4%B1%202.png

(This map contains all the required bus lines, subway lines, train lines, transfer points and
station names that you need to know during LoVe CM Izmir Economy)

2. When you are about to use the public bus, bear in mind that; in İzmir, station names are gene-
rally duplicate, for example when we mention ‘Rektörlük’ station in Alsancak, there are 2 ‘Rektör-
lük’ stations in the opposite lanes of the road. (Imagine like a subway station) Always make sure
you are on the correct direction! (Refer to offline map, ask people waiting in the station or the
driver for busses direction)

3. In order to use Subway, Train, Ferry or Bus you should either purchase ‘İzmirim Card’ or one of
the ’3-5 Bilet’ options.

4. You can purchase ‘İzmirim Card’ or ’3-5

Bilet’ and charge credits in subway and train
stations. For example, in Adnan Menderes
Airports train station (İZBAN) there are
kiosks to charge your ‘İzmirim Card’.
5. Purchasing an ‘Izmirim Card’ costs 6 TL, each
ride costs 2,60 TL, excluding special cases like 2 7,00
airport shuttle. Credits TL
‘3-5 Bilet’ Price table is as the following; 2 7,00 TL
3
Credits 10,00
Credits TL
6. If you purchase an ‘Izmirim Card’, second
and all subsequent rides are free of charge
within 90 Minutes of the first use. Whereas, ’3-5 5 14,00
Bilet’ uses 1 credit for each ride you take. This Credits TL
card doesn’t have the transfer opportunity like
10 27,00
the ‘Izmirim Card’, so in case your route requi-
Credit TL
res a transfer, every transfer deducts another 1
credit from your ticket.

a. You still NEED to show the card to the machine when you get in!

b. This transfer applies between any type of transportation. (You can take any ride for 2,60TL
within 90 minutes.)

7. You can’t reclaim any leftover credit in ‘Izmirim Card’ or ’3-5 Bilet’, so be mindful when you
charge money to the card or choosing which capacity ’3-5 Bilet’ to purchase.
Fun fact; The dedication to number 35 is because of the car license plate number for Izmir is 35
as you can easily notice when you arrive!

From this site (http://www.eshot.gov.tr/en/NighBusServices/130/237) find and check the time

for the night bus services. Night bus is considerably expensive and sharing a cab is a lot faster and
almost same price when you’re 5 people. Nevertheless, as organizers we are going to give you the
opportunity to return to hotel every day with private bus or the place is close to walk to hotel
anyway. Contact organizers in case you need further help with the Night Bus.

HOW ?

I. Bus (Number 202)

credits for ’3-5 Bilet’ and does not grant you the transfer right for next ride.
This is a service provided by municipality of Izmir. Taking 202 is fastest, most convenient and
