Overview
This is release of the Bluetooth 3.0 baseline that supports the Bluetooth 3.0 +HS standard with both
Atheros AR301x Bluetooth hardware and various Atheros 802.11 hardware solutions. The main
components of this release are the Bluetooth suit and WLAN. Supported hardware platforms and
Microsoft operating system versions are detailed in this document, as well as specific profiles and
features of the software package.

If you have any questions or feedback concerning the software packages, please contact your local
Atheros sales representative or field applications engineer.

1 Release package
1.1 Hardware support
This release supports various combinations of Atheros Bluetooth and WLAN devices. Non-Atheros
devices are not supported.

This release includes WLAN drivers and Windows8 driver version of the Bluetooth Suite

2.1 WLAN Driver

The driver package supports the Windows 8.1 operating system, in both 32 and 64 bit modes.
Released versions below:

Win8.1 : RNWF10.0.0.299

2.1.1 WLAN Features

Features supported by this release are:

1) BT 3.0
Bluetooth 3.0+HS architecture supports the use of WLAN as the alternate MAC/PHY (AMP) to be
used for a faster Bluetooth data exchange.

This driver release supports the use of WLAN AMP for high speed data transfers initiated by host
Bluetooth stack. The following features are supported in this regard:

• Interface with Bluetooth Stack

The driver implements the Bluetooth interface to communicate and exchange data with their
Bluetooth AMP Manager filter driver.

• 802.11 PAL
Driver implements the Bluetooth 3.0+HS standard defined 802.11 Protocol Adaptation Layer
which communicates with a Bluetooth host stack through the standard Host Controller Interface
(HCI) commands.

2) WLAN supported features:

2.1.2 Localization
This release software is localized to support the below 32 languages. It includes

Installer supports all 32 languages for Windows 8.1 installation.
2.1.2.2 User guides in CHM, CAB and MAML format
User help content in all supported formats is available in all 32 languages for XP and Vista OS.
Localization of help content for Window 7 will be supported in subsequent drop. Only the English
version of the help files for Windows 8.1 is available in this drop.

2.2.5 Limitations
OPP transferring will disconnect if the file name length is larger than Windows Max Size (256
units).
The system will fail to enter S3/S4 modes during an active HCRP printing session.
Bluetooth settings dialog cannot be opened if the BT device is disabled and then re-enabled
while the BIP file selection window is open
If the S3 state is entered while a FAX transfer is occurring , the FAX local server will display
incorrect status after resuming from S3
