CHRISTIAN ETHICS 4
LESSON 2

ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIOS BASED ON THE BIBLICAL STORY OF NOAH:

WHAT WAS THE ETHICAL CHALENGE?

The ethical challenge is how to avoid what is rampant, that is, corruption and violence then
existing which provides them an evil human environment. The human race was then a mess that God
regretted ever creating the human race.

WHAT WAS HIS ETHICAL ACTION?

Noah, despite the evil human environment, maintained to be just and he still walked with God.
Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.

WHAT WAS THE TEMPTATION?

As God commanded Noah to build an ark, the temptation there is to choose what is convenient,
that is, to save just himself and his family. But Noah being righteous, he instead clearly obeyed the
words of God, he saved the earth’s living creatures and even preached justice to the world.

WHAT WAS THE COST OF HIS DOING WHAT IS RIGHT?

As the scripture said, the Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his
heart was deeply troubled. The cost of Noah’s doing what is right is that, the human race was wiped out
saved as exceptions, Noah, his family and those who are with him in the ark.

WHAT WAS THE REWARD OF DOING WHAT WAS RIGHT?

The reward is that he was saved from the flood so as his family and all of those with him in the
ark.
