UMTTS Cell selection and reselection LMP

In UMTS reselection scenario we based on two criteria or role S role and R role.

S role for cell camping scenario or cell selection.

R role is for cell reselection scenario.

For FDD cells: 𝑆𝑟𝑥𝑙𝑒𝑣 > 0 and 𝑆𝑞𝑢𝑎𝑙 > 0

So when ever cell where: 𝑄𝑞𝑢𝑎𝑙𝑚𝑒𝑎𝑠 > 𝑄𝑞𝑢𝑎𝑙𝑚𝑖𝑛 and 𝑄𝑟𝑥𝑙𝑒𝑣𝑚𝑒𝑎𝑠 >

𝑄𝑟𝑥𝑙𝑒𝑣𝑚𝑖𝑛 then UE will camp to this cell.

Cell reselection scenario:

Sx means Squal or Srxlev in this document will talk about Squai:

 If Sx > SIntraSearch, UE may choose to not perform intra-frequency measurements.

 If Sx <= Sintrasearch, UE performs intra-frequency measurements.

 If Sx > SSearchRat, UE does not need to measure quality of inter-RAT neighbor cells.

 If Sx <= SSearchRat, the UE performs inter-RAT cell quality measurement.

 If Sx > Sintersearch, UE does not measure inter-frequency cells.

 If Sx <= Sintersearch, UE measures inter-frequency

Since :

So if signal quality of serving cell less than this equation then the cell reselection will be triggered

Now for the neighboring cell measurements should Rn>Rs so

so here if signal quality of neighbor cell less than signal quality of serving cell and hyst of serving and offset of
neighbors then this cell will be reselected cell and will execute cell reselection after timer Tintrasearch
expires.

To avoid any problem the neighboring cell will not be ranked as neighbors if it’s signal less than Qqualmin so
if signal more than qualmin and more than equation 4 than this cell will executed as reselected cell.

Some related parameters:

 sIntraSearchPre indicate wither we need to implements Sintrasearch function or nor [0 or 1].

 sIntraSearch gives a value to trigger intraseach reselection default value in |ZTE is 14 dB.
 qqualMin: -18dB default
 qrxlevMin: -115 default.
 qHyst2S when the measurement quantity is CPICH Ec/No 2dB default.
 Qoffset2s, n when measurement quantity is CPICH Ec/No 0dB id default value.
In case of inter RAT reselection criteria.

SsearchRat default value is 6dB qqualMin is -18 dB Quality Offset2 (Qoffset2s,n) is 0 default value
