Quick Installation Guide

The Quick Installation Guide will help you through the installation procedure for
Windows 2000 & XP including basic hardware and software installation, as well as
checking network availability. All the instructions below assume that there is an
unencrypted wireless network. For detailed instructions on using Ad-hoc or advanced
options, please refer to the User Guide on the Resource CD.
A. Hardware Installation
1. Plug USB WLAN stick into an available USB port.
B. Software Installation for Windows 2000
(Attention Windows XP User: GO directly to Step D.)
1. When “Found New Hardware Wizard” is prompted, click Cancel, and then insert
the Resource CD into your CD-ROM drive. Click the Start button and choose Run.
In the field that appears, enter F:\USB\Setup.exe (if “F” is the letter of your CD-
ROM drive; ‘USB’ represents the setup program path, which is labeled on the
Resource CD) to load the following page.
2. Follow the InstallShield Wizard steps, and click the OK button when done to
reboot the system.
Note: If Windows 2000 prompts “Digital Signature Not Found”, click “Yes” to
continue the installation.
C. Check Wireless Connection in Windows 2000

After installing the adapter, the adapter’s tray icon will appear in your system
tray. It appears at the bottom of the screen, and shows the signal strength using color
and the received signal strength indication (RSSI). If the icon is (green),
congratulations, there is excellent signal strength, and you may now use the wireless

network. If the icon is (gray), follow the steps below to launch the connection
manually.
1. Double-click the icon and the TWCU utility will run. You can also run the utility
by click the Start->Program->VigLAN->VigLAN Wireless Client Utility. On the
prompted configuration tab page, click the Profile Management tab.
2. Click the Scan button on the Profile Management page, the Available Network
window will appear.
3. Click the Refresh button to refresh the list at any time if you wish.
4. Highlight the network name and lick the Activate button to connect to an
available network. If no configuration profile exists for that network, the Profile
Management window will open to the General tab. Fill in the Profile name and
click OK to create the configuration profile for that network.
Note: If a well-balanced wireless network cannot be created, please refer to the
User Guide on the Resource CD or your dealer for help.
