year I had a teacher of those that do not leave you indifferent, Pilar Tormo she
used to say: "u n good teacher is one who sees needs and desires where
others see problems"; This RFIL pe responds Dulein, a professor who
stars in this film.
Biography
Antonio Banderas is the son of a policeman, José Domínguez Prieto (1920-
2008) and an institute teacher, Ana Bandera Gallego, Antonio Banderas was
born on August 10, 1960 in the hospital of La Caleta in the city of Malaga. From
a very young age he showed a strong interest in the performing arts and was
part of the Malacitano Theater-School ARA directed by Ángeles Rubio-Argüelles
and Alessandri, 6 wife of the diplomat, writer and film director Edgar Neville, and
of the Higher School of Dramatic Art of Malaga.

At the beginning of the film we can see how to look like a student destroys
private property Dulein go to the principal or moving to Dulein to act in this
way is not the fact unmask in front of it, goes beyond the boy 's behavior,
tries to discover who needs or frustrations have led the boy to act that way, and
before that his only pretension is to help. To contrast this attitude Professor
Dulein I will focus on one of the teachers who appears in the film, on the
contrary he thinks that only those who are struggling are those who
need and support they deserve, for being with conflict is wasting time ; argues
that the "best" students should be rewarded by giving them incentives as if they
had more rights than the rest for the simple fact that they obtain better
academic results. In my opinion are p recisamente those who show no interest,
notes or those whose behaviors reflect that something is wrong, those who
need more attention, more incentives and of course anyone worry about
them; On the other hand those who have their own initiative, they get
good results, they need recognition as anyone but are not those who most need
our attention and care, are not those who need to be saved, for themselves and
come to the surface.
Also noteworthy is the position taken by the director of the center who claims
that when happening outside the school should be left in the hands of the
authority and is not their responsibility. Another big mistake, because life
outside the school is the one that presents that disorder and mismatch that has
its consequences in school and it must be borne in mind that the one who is
most harmed in all this is the student in question.
And it seemed to me that when the principal accepted Dulein's proposal to offer
these "conflictive" classroom dance classes, the principal agreed because she
saw it more as a punishment that would not be liked by students than as
something really constructive. I was struck by the very different intention of
Dulein in doing so because I believed that I could educate them and help them
through it and the director who simply thought I would annoy them.

ONE CAN NOT TEACH IF THE OTHER DOES NOT WANT TO LEARN
Before teaching them to dance, Dulein pauses for a moment to eliminate the
prejudices they may have about ballroom dancing. This aims to not only remove
the blindfold on the subject of dance but also get some willingness on the part
of students, as Dulein can not teach them anything if they are not willing to
learn.

In my second year of teaching had a professor named Juan Fernandez Hodar

who approached us a sentence of Quintilian of Calahorra, read: "students to
TAKE something home" Undoubtedly this phrase is reflected in the scene where
the He appears girl dancing at home, going over it from a previous class.

SEARCH WHAT JOINS US

The students find that Dulein is light years away from them, which is not part of
their own world and this creates a wide barrier between teacher and student.
At one point in the film they bring up the subject of love and Dulein refers to it by
saying: "Love is universal, only we seek it in different ways, we hear it in
different songs." Look for that which unites us and instead they believe that it
differentiates them; with this phrase Dulein shows them that we are closer than
they think and are not so different from each other as far as feelings
are concerned. We must begin to educate from the depths of our being, to focus
on what we have as a human and to leave aside everything that is external to
us, such as clothing, race, religion, social classes ...

SPEECHES DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING

Dulein decides to show them dancing a tango that the ballroom dance is not
any fuss, but is loaded with feeling, passion and can be just as interesting as
what they are accustomed to. This scene perfectly reflects what the teacher that
I previously mentioned Juan Fernandez Hodar called "break the mold" students
after that time they transform from conditions to conditions d os, ie, to
awaken their interest, questions, curiosity about the subject
in question. They begin to believe what they want to teach when they see
attitude Dulein and suddenly a change in attitude occurs also in the
students really feel motivated.
In my first year of teaching, particularly in general didactics with Pilar Tormo, we
asked for those items that can be found in educational practice that it be born
the desire to learn in students and among them emerged: See the teacher as a
model, an example empl or follow (it is a crack!); since entir s admiration for
your teacher gives birth in you a desire to fill all his wisdom, all that you
want to show and teach.
In the film when the dance ends all
students approach Dulein by showing their admiration.

REVIEW
At one point during the film Dulein denies that money is the main issue to learn
to dance well; In my opinion you are creating a false illusion. From my own
experience, ballroom dancing and all its world is quite expensive, many of us
are not fulfilling our dreams precisely for this very reason. In this case it should
be recognized that the illusion and the desire are not enough if they are not
accompanied by economic support. It should not be forgotten that Professor
Dulein himself gives them free classes but in his academy to which people from
a higher economic level attend classes are charged and not everyone can
afford it.

TEACH FROM YOUR INTERESTS

Dulein accepts the proposal of students and fuse the music of both styles. Here
comes into play not only the fact to take into account their musical tastes but
also the recognition and implementation of a proposal that arises directly from
them. In a class we must all have a voice and vote, we must all be heard to be
accomplices of a common project.

EDUCATION IS AN EXTRA, IS ANOTHER

A couple of years ago I saw a documentary called "e chool of Miss Olga" in é l
school is embodied as u n more; since the contributions and lessons that can
extract and live in it, you do not find anywhere else. We must also not forget
that is a benchmark for the rest of our comings v. In the film the girl in the dance
a way of relief; what he has reg him Dulein side, now take it as their own, as an
escape, something useful for your life. One more to turn to.

THE TEACHER SEPARATES TO TEACH AMA

Love, not story to kisses and caresses as if to worry about , pay attention,
listen. Cuand or girl and Ron fight, he calls Dulein because he feels he is the
only one who would come to his aid. In this case Dulein as teacher is the
reference to which one goes to orientate, to find the support that does not find in
his house.

AUTHORITY AND ACCOMPANYING

In the classes that Dulein teaches as punishment to both students, he quotes a
sentence that reads as follows: "Following requires as much power as guiding"
Taken to the didactic field, I interpret it as follows: the decision to grant
autonomy to the teacher is in the hands of the student; because authority is not
an imposition we should not confuse it with authoritarianism authority is to give
someone else the ability to influence you. In the educational relationship this
authority is essential for the student to learn from the master and giving that
permission is the only w ay so that the teacher can teach truth.
And it continues saying: "not to dominate but to travel with her"; just as the
teacher does not intend to invade the student's space, to take his place; but to
accompany him in his journey to learn.

COMENIUS: "TEACHING THROUGH ALL THINGS TO ALL MEN"

In its defense against the parents Dulein explains not just about learning to
dance but to learn through it values that make us better than we
are. Pilar Tormo (professor of general teaching of teachers) taught me that it is
not the material itself, is not to create mathematical experts, painters,
musicians, historians, physicists ... but educate them through mathematics,
painting, music, of history, of physics ... to seek to offer us every subject that
may be useful to them in their life. Dulein does not intend to create professional
dancers but to educate them through dance.
Regarding the girl if she lets her partner guide her is that she trusts him and
herself; and if you feel safe you will never let them treat you badly, you will feel it
is worth it and deserve to be treated with respect.Concerning the boy if he
learns to play a girl with respect, this is how he will treat a woman throughout
his life. Thus through the dance students are internalizing ways to behave and
attitudes such as respect, teamwork or being worthy.
As the pedagogue Alexander Sutherland Neill, founder of the famous boarding
school "Summerhill", saying it is not about giving verbal lessons are forgotten
over time, but to encourage attitudes towards things, we will abandon it
throughout his life.

"ENJOY A SINGLE TEACHER, ONE ONLY TO SAVE OURSELVES AND LET

US FORGET ALL OTHERS" (Daniel Pennac's "Bad School")
Throughout the film it is possible to highlight some of the phrases that Dulein
gives to his students with whom he tries to awaken and somehow to save them:
"Faith in oneself is the most powerful weapon." I do not need others to believe
in me, but I trust myself in my possibilities.
"Having the courage to listen to your heart is what makes you a real man"
"The way to conquer the enemy is face to face"
"Magic can be anywhere"
"It's easy to blame, but even if you find something or someone to blame that
does not make the problem disappear"
